Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE):
- Monitor and enforce compliance with HSE policies, regulations, and statutory requirements across the plant.
- Conduct regular inspections, audits, and risk assessments of operational activities, including chemical handling, high-pressure systems, and confined spaces.
- Develop and deliver HSE training, toolbox talks, and awareness programs for plant personnel and contractors.
- Lead incident investigations, prepare reports, and ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented.
- Promote proactive hazard identification and near-miss reporting among the workforce.
- Ensure safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials, chemicals, and wastes in line with environmental standards.
Quality Management:
- Support implementation of ISO standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001) within the O&M framework.
- Conduct internal quality audits and coordinate with external certification bodies.
- Monitor compliance with O&M procedures, maintenance records, and water quality monitoring requirements.
- Assist in developing, reviewing, and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Method Statements.
Operational Support:
- Liaise with O&M teams to ensure that plant operations, including RO units, intake/outfall systems, and chemical dosing systems, are performed in line with QHSE standards.
- Provide QHSE input during maintenance activities, shutdowns, and emergency response drills.
- Ensure contractors and vendors adhere to QHSE requirements while working on-site.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of QHSE experience, preferably in water treatment, desalination, or heavy industrial operations.
- Strong knowledge of HSE regulations, risk assessment, and incident investigation.
- Familiarity with desalination technologies, especially SWRO processes, is highly desirable.
- Certified in NEBOSH IGC/OSHA or equivalent QHSE certifications.
- Experience with ISO management systems and auditing (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001).
