Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
The Quality Specialist Mechanical will ensure all mechanical installations in the airport/airfield project meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance. This position requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to enforce quality standards across complex mechanical systems, supporting successful project delivery.
What You ll Be Doing:
- Develop, implement, and enforce mechanical quality control procedures and inspection plans.
- Monitor and verify compliance with project specifications, codes, standards, and client requirements.
- Conduct site inspections and testing of mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, and vertical transportation systems.
- Prepare detailed inspection reports, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and corrective action plans.
- Maintain comprehensive quality records and ensure traceability for all mechanical works.
- Provide weekly and monthly quality status updates to project management and stakeholders.
- Ensure all mechanical works comply with local, national, and international standards relevant to airport infrastructure (e.g., ASHRAE, NFPA, ISO, mechanical codes).
- Coordinate with design and engineering teams to ensure adherence to specifications.
- Monitor contractors and subcontractors to ensure quality standards are maintained.
- Witness, review, and approve mechanical testing and commissioning activities.
- Assist in troubleshooting and resolving quality-related issues during testing and commissioning.
- Ensure that test results are documented and meet operational and safety requirements.
- Identify recurring quality issues and recommend corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Support quality improvement initiatives and contribute to lessons learned for future airport projects.
- Promote a culture of safety, quality, and compliance among project teams.
- Work closely with project engineers, construction teams, procurement, and safety specialists to ensure alignment of quality objectives.
- Support audits by client representatives, regulators, and third-party inspection agencies.
- Coordinate with contractors and suppliers to address quality concerns and implement corrective measures.
What Required Skills You ll Bring:
- Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical quality assurance/inspection on large infrastructure or airport projects.
- Hands-on experience with HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, elevators/escalators, or other mechanical systems in complex projects.
- Strong understanding of mechanical codes, standards, and regulations.
- Experience with testing, inspection, and commissioning of mechanical systems.
- Excellent documentation, analytical, and reporting skills.
- Effective communication skills to interact with contractors, engineers, and stakeholders.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and quality management systems (ISO 9001, QA/QC procedures).
What Desired Skills You ll Bring:
- Professional certifications in quality management or mechanical inspection (e.g., CQA, PE, Mechanical QA certifications).
- Familiarity with airport-specific mechanical systems including HVAC for terminals, firefighting systems, and baggage handling equipment.
- Experience with digital quality management tools and reporting software.
- Ability to work in fast-paced, multi-disciplinary project environments.
