Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Objective:
- Plan and execute site surveys to support construction, installation, and engineering activities with precision and efficiency.
- Establish and maintain control points, benchmarks, and reference systems for accurate layout and alignment of pipelines, structures, and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and client requirements in all survey operations.
- Lead and supervise survey teams, assigning tasks and ensuring quality and timeliness of deliverables.
- Coordinate with engineering, construction, and QA/QC teams to resolve discrepancies and support project execution.
- Manage survey data and documentation, including topographic maps, as-built records, and digital models.
- Utilize and maintain surveying instruments and tools, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
- Implement safety protocols during survey activities, identifying and mitigating risks related to terrain and equipment.
- Support construction progress tracking through regular site measurements and reporting.
- Provide technical input during inspections and audits, representing the survey discipline in client and contractor meetings.
- Train and mentor junior surveyors, promoting best practices and continuous improvement.
- Ensure timely reporting of survey results, deviations, and recommendations to project management.

- Bachelor s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related engineering discipline.
- Professional certifications such as RICS, ACIQS, or training in cost control/contract management (added advantage).
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems: HVAC, firefighting, plumbing, piping, and industrial mechanical works.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, BOQs, specifications, and contract documents.
- Knowledge of estimation, cost planning, tender evaluation, and pricing of mechanical works.
- Familiarity with industry codes/standards such as ASHRAE, NFPA, SMACNA, etc.
- Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel (costing, reporting, data analysis).
- Experience with QS/estimation tools like AutoCAD, CostX, Primavera, or similar software.
- Preparing quantity take offs, cost estimates, valuations, and variation claims for mechanical activities.
- Understanding of contract terms, procurement processes, and project cost control.
- Ability to conduct site measurements, material reconciliation, and subcontractor evaluation.
- Supporting project teams in budget monitoring, forecasting, and risk assessment.
- Strong analytical, numerical, and problem solving skills.
- Excellent communication and reporting abilities.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage deadlines, and coordinate with contractors/consultants.
