Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities


Ensuring the management and continuity of maritime communications at Sultan Qaboos Port, including coordination between ships and the port, coordination between operations, maritime pilots and tugboat crews, in addition to managing communications in emergency situations and maintaining related records .

Main responsibilities :


Coordinating the movement of all ships within the port area to ensure safe passage and freedom from the risk of collision or impact on facilities .Monitoring the movement of ships within the boundaries of Sultan Qaboos Port, including berthing, departure, movement, mooring, and towing .Maintaining continuous communication with ships within the port boundaries, and guiding incoming ships starting from a distance of 5 nautical miles .Coordination and communication with senior management, the operations department, marine pilots and tugboat crew in all operations and emergencies .Maintaining communication with the Coast Guard (Royal Oman Police), Customs, Immigration, Royal Navy and Royal Yachts regarding channel traffic and safe berthing .Coordination with government agencies such as the Ministry of Transport and Communications, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and shipping agents .Update the control tower log with all operations and activities carried out .Contacting the relevant authorities in emergency situations such as pollution, accidents, or fires in or near the port .Maintaining the confidentiality of information between the control tower and the various security agencies .Issuing entry permits to the port outside of working hours and during holidays in emergency cases after approval by the port manager .Monitoring marine buoys such as navigation buoys, side markers, cardinals, safe waters, and danger zones, and reporting any observations to the relevant authorities .Preparing daily reports on ship movement to support billing and statistics .Issuing approvals for ships to sail via the Customs  Bayan  system .Compliance with all health, safety and environmental procedures .Adherence to the policies, regulations and work ethics of Masters of Ports and maintaining confidentiality of information .Performing any other tasks assigned by the direct manager .

Qualifications, Experience and Skills :


Qualifications :


High school diploma .

Experiences :


At least 3 years of experience in a related field .Basic knowledge of maritime navigation safety .Knowledge of maritime regulations for ships with a tonnage exceeding 500 tons .Knowledge of port laws and regulations .

Skills :


Proficiency in using computers such as  Microsoft Office , email, and related systems .Proficiency in spoken and written English is required, and proficiency in Arabic is preferred .Time management, communication, and interpersonal skills .
