Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • - Provide guidance on how to search the Library catalog, databases, and other research tools .
  • - Create and update serials records in MARC 21, assigning subjects and classifications using the WorldShare Management System (WMS).
  • - Assists and share duties with research and referral queries at the reference desk, over the phone, by e-mail, via live chat and in personal meetings.
  • - Develops and maintains specialized subject guides by disciplines in collaboration with other librarians and subject specialists.
  • - Participates in developing and delivering information literacy courses and workshops especially the LISP200 Information Skills & Search Techniques for undergraduates.
  • - Collects and prepares reference resources for binding and shelving titles/volumes.
  • - Processes withdrawals, title changes, claims, and requests for back issues materials.
  • - Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Desired Candidate Profile

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Master s degree in Library and Information Science or in any other related field.
  2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Arabic and English, and an adequate ability in oral and written French
  3. Strong interpersonal skills and organizational skills
  4. General computer skills proficiency.
