Roles & Responsibilities
UNIT NAME: NEONATAL ICU (NICU)
PATIENT POPULATION: Infants / Newborns (male/female)
NUMBER OF BEDS: 5 beds (possibility of increasing as the L&D increases)
HOURS OF OPERATION: 24 hrs. / 7 day a week
PRIMARY PATIENT DIAGNOSES / CONDITIONS:
Premature babies Weight below 2500 gm and above.
Respiratory distress Hyaline membrane, Pneumonia
Meconium aspiration Persistent pulmonary hypertension
Infants of diabetic mothers
Congenital abnormalities
PROCEDURES (EXAMPLES):
Endotracheal intubation, Artificial ventilation
Blood gas monitoring, Lab works
High frequency oscillation
UAC, UVC, CVP line insertion
Arterial line insertion, Invasive BP
Lumbar tap (LP), Suprapubic urine collection
Glucose monitoring, Septic screen
Nasogastric tube insertion and feeding
1 hourly observation of vital signs
I.V. insertion, chest tube insertion
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation
O2 administration, headbox, nasal, cannula and humidification
Administration of IV, IM oral medication
Nursing assessment
Participating patient rounds, assisting physician and procedures

Desired Candidate Profile
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
Current licensure as a professional registered nurse
Minimum of two (2) years of current clinical nursing experience following licensure/registration in the country of origin
