Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
The ward provides comprehensive nursing care to women during the antenatal and postnatal periods, including the management of low to moderate risk obstetric cases. The unit works in close collaboration with Labour & Delivery, Operating Theatres, Neonatal Services, and Obstetric High Dependency areas, ensuring continuity of care across the maternity pathway.
Patient Population
- Antenatal patients requiring inpatient observation or treatment
- Postnatal mothers following normal vaginal delivery or caesarean section
- Patients with pregnancy related conditions such as:
- Gestational diabetes
- Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy
- Ante and post partum complications
Mothers receiving post operative and recovery care following obstetric surgical procedures
Nursing Scope & Responsibilities
Nurses working in Obstetrics W2 are responsible for:
- Antenatal and postnatal assessments and monitoring
- Post operative nursing care following caesarean sections
- Pain management and wound care
- Maternal observations and early recognition of obstetric complications
- Patient education, breastfeeding support, and discharge planning
- Multidisciplinary collaboration with obstetricians, midwives, neonatology staff, and allied healthcare professionals
Desired Candidate Profile
Requirements Bachelor s Degree in Nursing from a recognised institution
Valid and current registration/licence as a Registered Nurse
Eligibility for registration with the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS)
Minimum of two (2) years of post registration clinical nursing experience.
