Roles & Responsibilities

Job Purpose

The IT Release Manager provides domain and technical expertise for the relevant subject area and platform to ensure that platform design, delivery, and ongoing management is efficient and effective, providing services to the bank's external customers and internal organisation. The IT Release Manager is responsible for the release management lifecycle, focusing on coordinating various aspects of production and projects into one integrated solution. (S)he is responsible for ensuring that resources, timelines, and the overall quality of the process are all considered and accounted for. The IT Release Manager may directly manage technical platform resources as required by platform development programs.

Key Accountabilities

  1. Plan release windows and the overall release lifecycle.
  2. Manage risks that may affect release scope.
  3. Manage collaboration with all stakeholders (such as internal customers, technology team and application vendors) participating in systems platform development and support.
  4. Assess requests for changes to applications, making recommendations regarding solutions and associated cost estimates to introduce systems enhancements.
  5. Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources (along with root cause analysis), reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs.
  6. Assess the issues/change requests, factor in impact, business priorities and delivery capabilities; schedule delivery, liaise with vendors for timely delivery of solutions.
  7. Facilitate requirements gathering and process mapping workshops. Collect and analyse business requirements in detail and map them to current and future information technology activities, producing any appropriate artefacts as required by the lifecycle.
  8. Work with software developers, programmers and other teams to ensure technical compatibility and user satisfaction.
  9. Provide expertise and recommendations in assessing new projects and initiatives to support and enhance the bank's solutions.
  10. Review and monitor the performance and quality of the respective platform and ensure all appropriate follow-up is executed, such as problem remediation and root cause analysis.

Skills

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems (or a related field), or equivalent experience is required.

Professional Certifications

ITIL v4 Foundation certificate preferred.

Experience

5+ years of experience in financial services providing platform development and support.

Technical and/or functional experience in one or more banking systems in the relevant subject area and platform.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of one or more relevant financial services domains.
  • Demonstrated analytical and technical design ability.
  • Strong written and oral communication / presentation skills.
  • Good time-management skills.
  • Must be self-driven, curious and creative.
  • Should be confident, energetic self-starter, with strong moderation and communication skills.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work in diverse, cross-functional teams in a dynamic business environment.

Desired Candidate Profile

A bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems (or a related field), or equivalent experience is required.
