Roles & Responsibilities

Overview

We are currently looking for a Renewables Specialist with hands on onsite experience, particularly during the commissioning phase and/or in live operation and maintenance of utility-scale Solar PV and Wind Powerplants to be deployed within the following months within the GCC area on a short term assignments. This is a fixed term contract, with the view to transform into a permanent position within the ME Nuclear & Power team in the UAE.

Your role

  • Candidates must have been directly involved in complex and demanding troubleshooting activities under real operational or commissioning conditions.
  • With extensive experience managing large-scale projects typically hundreds of megawatts and above is essential; experience limited to small or distributed systems is not sufficient and will not be considered.
  • The role requires strong analytical and interpersonal skills, with the ability to identify and assess single points of failure within operating Solar PV and/or Wind plants through detailed system reviews, site investigations, and structured interviews with plant and O&M personnel.
  • Profiles with a proven ability (demonstratable experience) to identify and assess single points of failure, including systematic review of critical plant systems, failure modes, and dependencies impacting power generation will be prioritised. These experts will represent the company at site and act as a trusted technical interface with Clients, Plant Operators, and Asset Owners, requiring proven credibility, sound engineering judgment, and the ability to operate confidently in high-stakes, client-facing environments.
  • Background in regions with long-established utility-scale renewable portfolios (i.e., Europe), where lessons learned from multiple generations of projects have informed best-in-class commissioning, O&M, and asset management practices, will be considered highly advantageous.

About you

  • At least 10 to 15 years of demonstratable on-site experience on utility-scale solar or wind projects.
  • Both disciplines must with assets of the order of hundreds of MW and above, ideally within the ME region.
  • Proven on-site exposure during commissioning and/or live O&M, including intense troubleshooting.
  • Experienced acquired either through EPC Contractors or O&M entities.
  • Strong technical judgment to identify single points of failure and system-level risks.
  • Good knowledge of reliability matters and identification of design flaws or O&M gaps.
  • Comfortable engaging directly with site teams, operators, and asset owners.
  • Confident, credible, and professional in client-facing, site-based roles.
  • Solid experience gained in mature renewable energy markets with established best practices.
  • Experience within the ME and GCC regions
  • Track record of applying lessons learned from multiple large-scale projects.
  • Background in owner s engineering, technical advisory, or asset reliability roles.
  • Experience working across multi-cultural teams, particularly in the GCC environment.
  • Profiles with combined track record in Solar PV and Wind will be a considerable asset.
