Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
General objective:
Under the supervision and with the support of the Grant Manager, the Reporting / Communications Officer (RCO) s primary role is Coordinate the regular and ad hoc monthly, quarterly, annual programmatic donor reporting for the SI mission
Support the Country Director and Programme team on visibility and communication issues.
The RCO will support improving internal communication at coordination level as well as internal communication with field bases. In a very sensitive environment regarding external communication, under the responsibility of the CD, the RCO will be involved in designing a communication strategy for an external audience.
The main challenges:
Yemen continues being one of the biggest humanitarian crises worldwide, with more than 4 M IDPs and above 20 M people in need of humanitarian aid. The mission is one of the largest in SI for 2024 with projected funding from 8 donors across 11 contracts. Donors have varying rules, policies, and procedures which the reality of the Yemen context can sometimes make them challenging to meet. A successful candidate will have to balance the day-to-day management of these contracts, including information dissemination to-from bases on contractual issues.
Priorities for the 2/3 first months:
- Consolidate and prepare the narrative reports and build the field team capacities on quality narrative reporting.
- Coordinate and contribute to quality and timely monthly reports and coordinate APUs inputs along with other coordination tasks as delegated by the line manager and head of department.
- Ensure the continuous strengthening and development of the GFU (Grant Follow Up) and communication tools to track different grant topics.

Education / academic background:
BA Minimum
Specific skills and experience:
- Experience in coordinating and contributing to quality written reports.
- Experience in humanitarian success stories, blog posts, other communication tools.
- Strong communication skills with capacity to juggle conflicting priorities.
- Experience in humanitarian success stories, blog posts, other communication tools
- Good writing skills.
- Good negotiation skills
- Capacity to work to tight deadlines in a challenging humanitarian environment
Language:
- Fluency in written and oral English mandatory
- Arabic an asset
The RCO should have a pre-existing knowledge of at least the basic elements of narrative reporting within the humanitarian context (sections, etc) and ideally experience in reporting for some key mission donors. General understanding of humanitarian programming is an asset.
