Role Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Research Associate to join a unique and new research project funded through 2028 by the Qatar Research Development and Innovation Council (QRDI) titled Rethinking the Day After": Post-war reconstruction of the Gaza Strip" led by the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies (DI) represented by Dr. Ghassan El Kahlout, the Lead Principal Investigator, and Dr. Sansom Milton, the Principal Investigator. The collaborating institutions are the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies and the Islamic University in Gaza. A key aim of the research project is to produce a timely and relevant study on the aftermath of the 2PHONE_NUMBER Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, focusing on the pathways to rebuild and support the territory in the 'day after.' It seeks to fill the existing knowledge gaps and provide a Palestinian-led perspective on the post-conflict recovery and reconstruction of the Gaza Strip. The successful applicant will be based at the Doha Institute. The project operates within the Research & Grants Department. The approximate start date for the appointment is June 2026, and the duration is up to 12 months. The appointment is subject to renewal after the completion of the original duration.

Key Responsibilities:

• Research & Fieldwork: Support the conduct of qualitative and quantitative research, interviews, and data collection on the ground, including potential travel to conflict-affected regions.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with local partners, translate/interview in Arabic and English, and coordinate workshops.
• Project Outputs: Support the preparation of scholarly articles, policy briefs, and other deliverables as outlined by the project team.
• Administrative Support: Assist in the organization of meetings, events, and travel, and ensure compliance with funder and DI guidelines. Also help in preparing progress reports for the funding agency.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

1. Fluency in English and Arabic, and the ability to conduct project activities orally and in writing in both languages.
