Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Converse with customer to determine destination, mode of transportation, travel dates, financial considerations, and accommodations required.
  • Plan, describe, arrange, and sell itinerary tour packages and promotional travel incentives offered by various travel carriers.
  • Make and confirm reservations for transportation and accommodations, using telephones, faxes, mail, and computers.
  • Prepare customer invoices, and accept payment.
  • Answer inquiries regarding such information as schedules, accommodations, procedures, and policies.
  • Assemble and issue required documentation such as tickets, travel insurance policies, and itineraries.
  • Inform clients of essential travel information such as travel times, transportation connections, and medical and visa requirements.
  • Confer with customers to determine their service requirements and travel preferences.
  • Examine passenger documentation to determine destinations and to assign boarding passes.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly and annual reports on sales and debtors aging schedules.
  • Carryout any other related tasks.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Knowledge of customer and personal services including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for describing physical geography.
  • Knowledge of sales and marketing principles, marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems.
  • Knowledge of computerized ticket reservations systems such as Sabre and Amadeus.
  • Knowledge of transportation principles and methods including relative costs and benefits by air, rail, sea, or road.
  • Knowledge of English language structure, content, spelling, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems including word processing, managing files and records, stenography and transcription, designing forms, and office procedures.
  • Skills in active listening, service orientation, social perceptiveness, and persuasion.
  • Ability to perform for or work directly with the public and serve customers.
  • Proficiency in interacting with computers and computer systems for data entry and information processing.
  • Skills in communicating with suppliers and service providers and representing Airlines, Travel Agents and Brokers, Booking system administrators, IATA and others.
  • Ability to keep up-to-date technically and apply new knowledge to the job.
  • Skills in establishing and maintaining constructive and cooperative interpersonal relationships with customers and colleagues.
  • Ability to organize, plan, and prioritize work effectively.
  • Good communication skills with supervisors, peers, or subordinates via telephone, written form, email or in person.
  • Competence in documenting and recording information in written or electronic/magnetic form.
