Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Site Supervision: Oversee and manage all civil construction activities on-site to ensure they are completed according to the project specifications, engineering standards, and contract requirements.

  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that construction activities meet quality standards and specifications, reviewing construction processes and materials, and identifying potential issues before they become problems.

  • Project Coordination: Coordinate day-to-day operations of civil works, including scheduling, resource management, and technical support to ensure smooth workflow and compliance with the project timeline.

  • Technical Oversight: Provide technical support and guidance to contractors and subcontractors, ensuring that work methods and materials comply with the engineering specifications and regulatory requirements.

  • Reviewing Submittals: Review and approve contractor submittals, including materials, method statements, and shop drawings, ensuring they align with design requirements and quality standards.

  • Work Progress Monitoring: Monitor the progress of civil works and ensure that the project stays on schedule. Identify delays or deviations from the plan and recommend corrective actions to avoid project disruption.

  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure that all construction activities are conducted safely and in compliance with local laws, safety regulations, and company HSE policies. Collaborate with the HSE team to enforce safety protocols on-site.

  • Reporting: Prepare and submit detailed reports on site activities, project progress, any issues encountered, and resolutions. Provide regular updates to the Principal Resident Engineer and client representatives.

  • Client Liaison: Maintain effective communication with the client and their representatives, reporting on construction progress, challenges, and changes to the work scope. Ensure that the client’s requirements are met.

  • Deficiency and Non-Compliance Management: Identify and report any deficiencies or non-compliant work on-site, and work with the contractor to rectify the issues in a timely manner.

  • Material and Resource Management: Ensure proper management and use of materials on-site, working with procurement teams to ensure the timely supply of quality materials in line with the project requirements.

  • Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date site records, including progress reports, daily site diaries, contractor correspondence, and change orders. Ensure all documentation is correctly filed and accessible.

  • Final Inspection and Handover: Coordinate the final inspections and ensure all aspects of the civil works are completed as per contract requirements. Assist in preparing the project for final handover to the client, including as-built drawings and required documentation.

Technical Expertise

  • Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices, including construction techniques, materials, and structural analysis.

  • Familiarity with UAE building codes, standards, and regulations, particularly related to civil infrastructure projects.

  • Experience in managing civil works, including roads, drainage, utilities, and building structures.

Analytical Skills

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to assess complex technical challenges and propose effective solutions.

  • Attention to detail in monitoring construction quality, identifying potential issues early, and ensuring compliance with design documents.

Project Management

  • Ability to manage site resources effectively, coordinate tasks, and monitor progress to ensure timely completion of work.

  • Proficient in managing project schedules, tracking work progress, and ensuring compliance with deadlines.

  • Capable of handling multiple priorities and resolving site-related issues in a proactive and organized manner.

Communication and Leadership

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with contractors, clients, and other stakeholders.

  • Ability to lead and mentor site engineers and contractors, ensuring alignment with the project’s goals and standards.

  • Ability to effectively negotiate and resolve conflicts or disagreements on-site.
