Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Context
The main objective of the Operations Department at the Paris Operational Center (OCP) is to improve the quality of MSF's operational response by formulating, supervising, and ensuring the effective implementation of its humanitarian medical activities. The Department is composed of eight operational cells, cross-functional units, and project teams.
In collaboration with the Medical Manager, ensure the smooth running and coordination of mental health and psychosocial support (SMSPS) activities within the Missions managed by the Unit and provide support to psychologists and activity managers in order to ensure quality mental health care for targeted patients.
Main responsibilities
Participate in the (re)definition of strategies, protocols and activities in mental health and psychosocial support of projects, by evaluating the different needs according to the evolution of medical imperatives and the local context and resources:
Ensure the consolidation of the strategy at country level and its proper implementation within projects
Promote and contribute to the capitalization and standardization of SMSPS programs in the countries of the Unit
Adapt MSF tools necessary for the implementation of the strategy, in accordance with the local context (e.g. training materials, protocols, procedures, material for patient use, Data, etc.)
Ensure good collaboration between the different aspects of activities (medical, protection, socio-legal, etc.)
Assess support and training needs, then develop and ensure their implementation with MSF multidisciplinary teams
Increase knowledge and awareness of psychosocial issues and emotional support in teams and non-medical staff
Evaluate existing and deployed activities at the mission level and define monitoring and evaluation tools and indicators in collaboration with the teams in charge of these projects. Contribute to the implementation of data collection tools, and support teams in the analysis and interpretation of quantitative and qualitative data. Work to standardize data between fields while ensuring their consistency with the indicators validated by the intersection platform in mental health.
Identify issues to develop lines of advocacy related to the mental health of the target audience, and participate as needed in activities carried out by the mission teams, including communication initiatives and meetings with health authorities, among others
Specific responsibilities
Evaluate and propose a transcultural approach in mission-level activities for care provided and prevention activities.
Propose and/or follow a mental health and psychosocial approach adapted to the migration context (trauma, violence, isolation and precariousness) which requires specific care adapted to the frequent movements of people
Encourage teams to work in collaboration with health structures present in the countries of intervention (associative, public, etc.).
Ensure that patient rights and confidentiality are respected, while ensuring the transfer of relevant information to members of multidisciplinary teams (with particular attention to accommodation structures)
If necessary, provide support during exceptional situations.
Desired profile
Training:
Psychology diploma recognized in France, DESS/Master 2 in psychology or medical diploma with specialization in psychiatry
Valid license/registration to practice in the country of residence strongly desired (ADELI number is a plus)
Training in migration, sexual and gender-based violence, or psycho-trauma is an asset.
Experience :
Experience in coordination within an international NGO, 2 years minimum required.
Experience in humanitarian projects involving SMSPS activities, mandatory.
Professional experience as a clinical psychologist or practicing psychiatrist, at least 2 years required.
Experience in the field of migration or multicultural programs is required.
Experience with young adults is an asset.
Experience in psycho-trauma.
Languages: Fluent French and English (level C1); other languages desirable.
