Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Basic Function:
- Coordinate maintenance activities with all departments to minimize downtime and ensure operational efficiency.
- Prioritize maintenance tasks based on safety, urgency, and operational needs.
- Supervise and control the maintenance and repair of mechanical, electrical, electronics and information technology equipment on the rig.
- Communicate equipment problems or breakdown information via direct supervisor to technical maintenance support team.
Equipment Maintenance & Operations:
- Maintain control over the rig s preventive maintenance system and associated computer database.
- Plan the service and maintenance of equipment.
- Develop maintenance schedule and plans for all rig equipment.
- Coordinate periodic maintenance activities with the OIM and other department heads.
- Ensure that reports for repair and maintenance of equipment are accurate and complete.
- Ensure maintaining the reliability and integrity of rig equipment and systems, including drilling systems, mechanical systems, electrical & electronic system, and safety systems.
- Liaise with the marine department regarding the loading, ordering and use of fuel, potable water, and drill water in consideration of the rig s stability.
- Ensure that the permit to work and isolation systems are strictly adhered to the maintenance department.
- Inform the OIM and other department heads of any technical problems or limitations that may affect the safe operation of the rig.
- Maintain proper communication with shore-based Field Support group, rig management, and equipment vendors.
- Liaise with the OIM to ensure that all third-party equipment is fit for purpose, certified, correctly installed, and maintained while on the rig.
- Approve all maintenance department requisition purchase orders.
- Supply rig management with maintenance statistics of the vessel.
- Document all changes to the maintenance system and provide reasons for making these changes to Rig Manager via direct supervisor.
- Provide input in the Survey of the vessel and ways to reduce the out of service time of the vessel.
- Communicate equipment problems or breakdown information via direct supervisor to Field Support Group.
- Ensure new equipment installations on the drilling unit are managed by an MOC.
- Conducting functional and commissioning tests and inspections to verify the proper operation of newly installed equipment as per regulatory and company standards outlined in MOC before it is put into service.
- Verification and inspection of third-party equipment and installations.
- Communicates with and consult the technical maintenance support team to their work areas where repairs are necessary.
Materials & Equipment:
- Maintain an adequate supply of spares to fulfil maintenance requirements and facilitate a safe and efficient operation.
- Advise on ways of making improvements to the inventory kept on the rig.
- Coordinating with procurement and logistics teams to procure spare parts and replacement components as needed, ensuring timely delivery, availability & compliance with the class & certification requirements.
- Plan and coordinate with the OIM and other departments to secure equipment s and perform safety inspections prior to any operations or major activity.
- Maintain accurate records of inventory usage, expenditures, and replenishment needs.
- Ensuring that the appropriate requirements of the statutory and regulatory bodies including the classification society are adhered to and records maintained.
Rig Move:
- Carries out related duties to prepare the rig for towing, ensure all equipment is correctly secured by the maintenance crew, maintaining the integrity and reliability of all rig systems and equipment throughout prior to the rig move.
Client Management:
- Promote and maintain an effective working relationship with other departments, third party personnel and Client Representatives.
- Responds to client requests and needs concerning materials, equipment, and personnel after getting adequate management approval.
- Implement the follow up requirements to audits, as issued by Clients, Regulatory Authorities, or rig management.
Reporting & Documentation:
- Maintains proper logs and records of all maintenance activities, equipment inspections, and repairs in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare accurate and timely reports, including daily equipment status reports, incident reports, job safety analysis for hazardous activities.
- Ensure the permit to work and isolation systems are followed and applied.
- Supply information to assist in the development of maintenance and repair budget.
People Management & Development:
- Provide clear instructions to their team regarding their duties, responsibilities, and any necessary safety precautions prior to commencing work.
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork among maintenance staff.
- Mentor, develop and train their team to ensure safe and effective operations.
- Identifies opportunities for skill and career advancement, works to support the professional growth of their team.
- Ensure their team receives the necessary required training to perform their duties safely and effectively through on-the-job training, and participation in safety drills and exercises.
- Support, promote and actively participate in ADES s Competency Assurance Program for maintenance team.
- Evaluates the performance of maintenance team on constant and fair feedback basis, identify areas for improvement, drive ADVANCE process to formalize a performance management culture.
Desired Candidate Profile
u>Job Requirements:/u>
Education & Experience:
- Previous experience in offshore rig maintenance (Mechanical/Electrical) with a minimum Five (5) years in a supervisory capacity
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, electronics, hydraulic & pneumatic systems.
- Knowledge of all technical calculations required for the safe operation of the drilling unit and computer skills.
- Proficiency in maintenance planning software (Computerized maintenance system) and MS office suite.
Skills/Competencies Required:
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, both independently and as part of team.
- Fluent in the English language (Spoken & Written).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of safety regulations, industry standards, and best practice for offshore operation.
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly climbing (stairs, ladders).
- Regularly bending, twisting, and standing.
- Ability to work outdoors under all extreme weather conditions (Noise / Humidity / Cold / Heat).
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Ability to work day or night shift as required with 12 hours minimum shift.
