Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
HYS Games is seeking a dedicated 3D Rigger & Animator to bring our heroes, vehicles, and combat moments to life in our upcoming hero-driven combat racing project. You will be responsible for building production-ready rigs and crafting expressive animations that enhance the game s energy, style, and personality. From dynamic hero movements to vehicle transformations and cinematic moments, your work will define the fluidity and realism of our fast-paced world.
Responsibilities
Rigging
- Create robust, animation-friendly rigs for a diverse range of assets including characters, vehicles, and mechanical props.
- Build facial rigs for expressive hero performances.
- Ensure rigs support both kinematic (IK/FK) and dynamic animation needs.
- Collaborate with technical artists to ensure seamless integration in Unity HDRP.
Animation
- Produce high-quality, stylized yet believable animations for heroes and vehicles.
- Create cinematic sequences, emotes, and in-game reactions that reflect each hero s unique personality.
- Work on gameplay-driven animations such as drifting reactions, collisions, and combat actions.
- Use skeleton masks and blending techniques to combine multiple animation sources fluidly.
Collaboration
- Work closely with the Art Director and Technical Artist to ensure visual consistency and technical feasibility.
- Partner with designers and Unity developers to implement and refine animation state machines.
- Participate in testing and polishing animations directly in Unity.
Desired Candidate Profile
Requirements
- Strong portfolio or reel demonstrating rigging and animation for real-time games.
- Proficiency in Maya or Blender for rigging and animation workflows.
- Experience with IK/FK systems, dynamic rigs, and skeleton masks.
- Deep understanding of anatomy, weight distribution, and mechanical motion.
- Familiarity with Unity s animation systems (Mecanim, Animator Controller, timeline sequences).
- Ability to iterate quickly and work collaboratively across disciplines.
- Experience with vehicle or mechanical rigging and animation.
- Knowledge of facial motion capture or blendshape systems.
- Background in physics-based or procedural animation.
- Passion for action, racing, or character-driven games.
