Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Utility Plants Operation: Operate and monitor plant, equipment and processes in order to ensure that plant and processes are operating within set parameters. Planning and coordination of utility plant operations within the shift hours according to the main production plant operational requirement. Start up and shut down of plants and equipment’s as per operation procedures. Liaison with RM5, SMP3, CCP and DRP3 operation teams for the supply of utilities. Take and record readings of running equipment and daily operating conditions, perform standard data analysis and record all data in specified log sheets according to set operating procedures. Carry out routine inspection, adjustment, checking and cleaning of equipment in order to ensure unplanned plant and process interruptions are minimized. Follow work permit procedures and ensure all safety measures are taken before handing over equipment / vessel or pump for maintenance Maintain the plant and operation area clean and safe for operation Follow all operating, safety, environment and quality procedures in order to ensure the highest standards of operation. Carry out checks for emergency and standby equipment’s, test run and maintained in order to ensure it is kept in good working order at all times. Communicate clearly with relieving operators on the next shift about current plant / equipment operation, status and hand over the shift and equipment with full and clear information During emergency, follow all necessary counter measures and contact appropriate staff as laid down in the operating procedures in order to ensure that any risk to personnel, plant or process operation are minimized. Operator has to comply with the Departmental Emergency Procedures for Safe Shutdown and Evacuation if required. Participate in the nominated training program for specific knowledge and self-improvement as per the requirement Getting acquainted with all operation areas and manage the shift operation if one of the operator is not available or whenever such situation arises Operation and monitoring of chemical dosing system. Monitoring and controlling of water quality, chemical treatment and reporting to concerned superiors in case of abnormality. Also to check stock position of all chemicals and reporting to supervisor for arrangement of external suppliers. Monitoring the external service of contractor engaged for makeup water transportation by non- drinking water tankers and check storage tank level. Also to monitor LPG tank level for arrangement of external supplier and reporting to supervisor Monitoring, daily recording and reporting of quantity of NG supply and makeup water supply at plant Performs assigned priority tasks or special jobs under the supervision of Day supervisor Trouble Shooting: Report any problem affecting the production to the superiors to ensure proper information flow and speedy resolution. Review plant operation parameters against the standard to identify trouble and take countermeasure as per standard Act as a support to main plants on non-routine plant and process problems. Safety, Quality & Environment: Follow the safety standard applicable to the area or plant unit of work. Understand the safety / health policy and plan of the company and department Based on the operational experience propose best procedure for safe operation & take quick counter measures in case unsafe situation as per established standards / procedures, whenever necessary Participates the safety and audit training at plant level committee of the department Organization Responsibility: Communication with other operatives and supervisor for interplant activities. Communication and co-operation with maintenance personnel for carrying out the maintenance job in the plant area. Follow the instructions and any other assigned jobs from supervisor Policies, Procedures & Operation standards: Identify and propose improvements to operating standards, and procedures in order to support continuous improvements in operating procedure or performance. Assists to day supervisor in preparing Operation standards for the operation of various plants and equipment’s in respective utility plants. Direct responsible for implementation of standard operation policies and procedures in all utility plant areas so that all relevant procedural / legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service to customers

Additional Duties and Responsibilities Assist ASP3 shift operators during shift duty for any trouble shooting in plant operation. Minimum Education Qualifications (Must Haves) Any preferred professional training (Nice to have) Diploma in Chemical/Mechanical engineering Utility operational skill Chemical handling Gas testing Professional Experience (Must haves) Previous Experience/exposure Recommendations (Nice to have) 6 + years of experience in utility operation (like in RM, DR, EAF-CC, Compressed air plant, NG Station, Fire water system) of steel plant, fertilizer plant or in petrochemical plant 3 + experience in operation of RM, DR, EAF-CC, Compressed air plant, NG Station, Fire water system in large steel plant, fertilizer plant or in petrochemical plant utility department 2 + years in plant trouble shooting & emergency handling & water analysis 2 + years’ experience as team leader or Supervisor in steel plant, fertilizer plant or in petrochemical plant utility department with high availability & implementing HSE policy 2 + years of experience PLC and DCS system for control of plant operation
