Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

There are 34 beds on this unit specifically designated to Orthopedics, Plastic Surgery and Chronic Pain Service patients. C-2 provides nursing care primarily to adult and pediatric patients with malignant and/or congenitally related diseases.

Types of Patients:

  • Adult/Pediatric Orthopedic, e.g., joint replacements, tumour resections, soft tissue releases, scoliosis (anterior and posterior resections), brachial plexus repair, spinal cord stimulator insertion, adult spine surgery, osteogenesis imperfecta, minimally invasive surgical procedures for adult spine, sports injuries (e.g., knee/shoulder arthroscopy)
  • Plastic Surgery, e.g., abdominoplasty/liposuction, breast augmentation/reduction/mammoplasty, pressure sore management, serial burn reconstruction, hemangioma debulking, septorhinoplasty, tissue expanders, cleft lip/palate repair, congenital defect repair (e.g., syndactyly), flaps/grafts for microvascular procedures, tendon transfer, VAC therapy for complex wounds

Desired Candidate Profile

Bachelor's degree in Nursing (online/distance education programs cannot be considered)

  • Current nursing (RN) license
  • Must have a minimum of five years of experience as an RN; two years current experience must be gained as an RN in orthopedic surgery/plastic surgery in a tertiary hospital
