Roles & Responsibilities
Job Title: Room Service Employee / Room Service Attendant
Department: Food & Beverage
Work Schedule: 12-hour shifts with flexible scheduling (day, evening, night, weekends, and holidays as required).
Job Summary
The Room Service Employee is responsible for preparing, delivering, and serving food and beverages to hotel guests in their rooms while ensuring high standards of service, hygiene, and guest satisfaction. The role also includes assisting with basic food preparation, maintaining cleanliness in the service and kitchen areas, and ensuring timely and accurate room service operations.
Key Responsibilities
Room Service Operations
- Receive and process room service orders via phone or hotel system.
- Prepare order trays/trolleys according to hotel standards.
- Deliver food and beverages to guest rooms in a timely and professional manner.
- Set up trays/tables in guest rooms when required.
- Collect used trays, dishes, and equipment from guest rooms and corridors.
- Ensure guest satisfaction and respond politely to guest requests or complaints.
Food Preparation
- Assist in preparing simple food items such as sandwiches, salads, breakfast items, beverages, and snacks.
- Ensure food is prepared according to hygiene and safety standards.
- Assist kitchen staff during busy service periods if needed.
Service & Hygiene
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the room service area and preparation stations.
- Follow hotel food safety and hygiene regulations at all times.
- Ensure all equipment, trays, and utensils are cleaned and properly stored.
Operational Duties
- Check inventory of room service items and report shortages.
- Assist with restocking food, beverages, and supplies.
- Follow hotel policies and procedures related to guest service and safety.
Working Conditions
- 12-hour working shifts.
- Flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Standing and walking for extended periods.
- Lifting trays, food carts, and service equipment when necessary.
Desired Candidate Profile
Previous experience in hospitality, room service, restaurant service, or food preparation is preferred.
Basic knowledge of food handling and hygiene standards.
Good communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work long shifts and under pressure.
Professional appearance and positive attitude.
Ability to work as part of a team.
