Functions and Responsibilities

-The Safety Supervisor should prepare & provide day-to-day activity logbook with the following contents to Superintendent of Contracts / Area Representative.

-Memos / Meetings / Projects / Safety Inspection carried on the day with remarks.

-Safety Supervisor has to carry out site visits in their respective areas every day.

-The Safety Supervisor should ensure that all the safety equipments to handle emergency shall be always available in the On Call vehicles and shall be maintained a record for monthly checks.

-The Safety Supervisor has to follow-up Industrial Accidents/Investigations for fulfilling the formalities records shall be maintained with tentative date for completion. Action shall be taken for the implementation of the recommendation.

-The Safety Supervisor who has to attend handover/acceptance meeting shall prepare a report by reviewing previous correspondence. The prepared report shall be forwarded to the Superintendent of the Contract for further reviews prior to convey to the respective departments.

-The Safety Supervisor who attends On Calls should submit written preliminary report with sketch/photos if available with in 24 hours of the incident to the Superintendent of Contracts Area Representative.

-Review and action the points of the previous minutes of meeting.

-Provide new points to include in the agenda for the proposed meeting.

-Highlight violations/inspection/ traffic & Industrial Accidents.

-Monthly report shall be submitted during the first week of the next month.

-Accident / incident / near miss reports / on call preliminary incident / traffic reports maintained.

-Issues Contractor accident records, returns, safety staff data etc.

-Represent HSE awareness / campaign programs. Should be aware of EPA guidelines.

-Should be always referring plant inspection guidelines, Fire & Safety Regulation and Health Safety Environment Management System.

-He should be familiar with EOD activities and liaise with KOC Safety Team as required.

-He should strictly follow EOD Specialist instructions for day-to-day activities.

-Every month Safety Engineer should provide activity report to concerned TL / Superintendent of Contract / Area Representative on or before 5th.

-He should maintain good filing records / skills of drawing reading, inspection.

-He should strictly comply with all standing instructions existing in the Division / Team.

-He should following all guidelines for group HSE Committee Meetings / Contractor Safety Committee Meetings / or call reports etc.

-He should attend any HSE presentation if required on safety subject, fire & safety developments and safety audits etc

-He should spend about 80% of his time in fields, if there is no specific standing instruction for other work.

-He should be fully aware of the Company s work permit system and perform the work in a safe manner as per the Company s HSE guidelines.

Qualification and Experience

-Bachelor s Degree in Science (minimum 3 years after grade 12) or Diploma in Engineering (3 years) preferably in Instrumentation from a recognized and reputed university (regular course), with minimum five (5) years experience as HSE personnel in the relevant field.

-Must have successfully completed one or more certified HSE course(s) in any category of training in General Industrial Safety, Construction Safety, Environmental Management, Industrial Hygiene, ISO 14001 / OHSAS 18001 Lead Auditor, NEBOSH, IOSH, ASSE Certificate in Global Safety Management or equivalent courses.
