Formed in 1981, Saudi Aramco Mobil Refinery Company Ltd. (SAMREF) is responsible for the development, construction, ownership, and operation of crude oil. SAMREF is a joint venture between Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Saudi Aramco) and Mobil Yanbu Refining Company Inc. (a subsidiary of Exxon Mobil Corporation). After completing the construction of the state-of-the-art facilities, the company commenced operations in 1984. When started, the design capacity was 263,000 barrels per day of Arab Light Crude. Today, it processes about 402,000 barrels of Arab Light Crude per day through bringing continuous improvement in the facility.
