Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
This unit plays a vital role in optimising hospital resources, reducing ICU burden, and supporting patients with complex needs through multidisciplinary collaboration.
The Long-Term Care Unit at our client hospital in Riyadh, provides specialised care for patients who require extended hospitalisation due to chronic illness, complex medical conditions, or prolonged recovery needs. It focuses on maintaining patient stability, preventing complications, and improving quality of life.
Capacity & Structure
Dedicated beds for adult patients requiring extended care
Designed for low to moderate acuity patients who no longer need ICU but cannot be discharged
Equipped for continuous monitoring and supportive therapies
Patient Population
Patients with:
Chronic respiratory failure (often on tracheostomy or ventilator support)
Neurological impairment (stroke, spinal cord injury)
Complex wound care needs
Long-term enteral or parenteral nutrition
Prolonged recovery after major surgery or trauma
Key Services & Nursing Interventions
Airway management (tracheostomy care, suctioning)
Pressure injury prevention and wound care
Medication administration and pain management
Nutritional support (PEG feeding, TPN)
Physiotherapy and early mobilisation
Psychosocial support and family education
Nursing Model
Staffing: Nurse Manager, Clinical Resource Nurse, Nurse Coordinator, Staff Nurses, Patient Care Technicians
Care Model: Total Patient Care with emphasis on comfort, rehabilitation, and prevention of complications
