Overview

The successful candidate will provide individual and group counselling, deliver proactive wellbeing programmes, and work closely with staff and families to foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive school culture. You will play a key role in safeguarding, early intervention, and promoting positive mental health strategies that empower students to thrive both in and beyond the classroom.

Working within a collaborative pastoral team, the School Counsellor will contribute to whole-school wellbeing initiatives, staff training, and the development of policies that prioritise student care.   • Lead and develop whole-school wellbeing initiatives, including workshops, preventative programmes, and staff training that promote positive mental health across the school community.

Desired Candidate Profile

Qualified and professionally accredited counsellor with a degree in Psychology, Counselling, Social Work, or related field, and membership of a recognised professional body (e.g., BACP, ACA, or equivalent).

  • Experienced in working with children and adolescents, ideally within a school or educational setting, with a strong understanding of developmental, emotional, and behavioural needs.
  • Skilled in safeguarding and child protection, with a sound understanding of early intervention, risk assessment, and maintaining clear professional boundaries.
  • Culturally aware and emotionally intelligent, able to build trust and rapport with students and families from diverse international backgrounds in a sensitive and inclusive manner.
  • Collaborative and proactive team player, confident in working with teachers, leadership teams, and parents to support whole-school wellbeing initiatives and promote a positive school climate.
