Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Support ASPREV (Aspetar Sports Injury and Illness Prevention Programme) by contributing to the establishment of world-class research projects within ASPREV and ensuring the development of knowledge translation activities and events.
Contribute to the development of the hospitals vision and strategy to protect the health and performance of both local and international athletes/teams that will be engaged in ASPREV projects. Mentor PhD candidates and/or young researchers but will also be expected to serve as the principal investigator for independent research projects within ASPREV. Work closely with researchers within the ASPREV programme and across other departments and the National Sports Medicine Programme (NSMP). Under supervision of the Director of ASPREV, all research tasks are completed professionally and efficiently complying with research laws and policies.
Key Accountabilities & Activities:
- Fulfil all administrative and organisational duties related to the assigned research topics, including defining the study design, research ethics application, participant recruitment.
- Ensure assessment, inclusion and follow-up of the recruited research participants.
- Implement and validate the required scientific methods for the research project.
- Assure data collection and management for the assigned study (verify accuracy; ensure integrity, security of data).
- Perform statistical analysis supported by biostatistician in Aspetar
- Prepare articles for international peer-reviewed journals and contribute to the Aspetar Sports Medicine Journal.
- Participate in the continuous education activities of Aspetar by attending lectures and giving presentations and contributing to the development of educational events in person or online
- Assume or accept any other responsibilities as assigned by the direct supervisor within the position role and responsibility.
- Attend and successfully complete competencies which focus on patient safety initiatives implemented within Aspetar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital. Patient Safety Training is an annual requirement, to include all organizational leaders, staff, service, and contracted providers.
Desired Candidate Profile
Necessary knowledge and Experience to be able to do the job:
- 6-8 years in which 2-3 years should be in a similar position / responsibility, preferably in a similar Industry.
- Demonstrated experience with publishing in international peer reviewed journals, minimum 15 research publications in high-impacts sports medicine/sports science journals as first or last author.
- Documented experience in mentoring PhD- and MSc-students.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team of medical scientists and practitioners
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to effectively communicate in a professional manner with diverse groups of professionals and guests of the organization is especially important to the position.
- Effective skills in group facilitation and education are also critical to success.
- Experience with statistical software such as SPSS, JMP etc. would be an asset.
- User-oriented knowledge of Internet- and web platform technology would be an advantage.
- Professionally groomed to project a positive image.
- Effective communication with excellent verbal and written language skills is a must.
Education and Certification requirements:
PhD in Sports Medicine, Sports Physical Therapy or relevant discipline within Sport Sciences.
