Background
1. Office/Unit/Project Description
UNDSS Iraq-Guard Unit is established to support the safety and security of personnel, assets and UN Common Premises. This position is located in the UNDSS office in Erbil / Iraq, locally administered by the UNDP and is financed by the Local Cost-Shared Security Budget.
Security Associate will be performing variety of tasks while ensuring Safe and Secure environment for UN Premises personnel and assets. Security Guard Unit Supervisor duties are performed in eight (8) hours five days per week.
Detail Security Associate duties are defined in standing Standard Operating Procedures and other relevant security plans.
2. Scope of Work
Monitor the security compliance of UN premises and international staff residences.
Act as the overall manager and supervisor of the Guard Unit in charge of UN Common Premises internal security, reporting to Premises Security Officer and/or Field Security Coordination Officer (FSCO) and/or Area Security Adviser, UNDSS.
Contribute to the Premises Security Officer, FSCO, ASA duties in office management procedures;
Addresse any breaches of security procedures in the UN Premises promptly and report same to the supervisor.
Assist the Area Security Adviser, Field Security Coordination Officer, Premises Security Officer in collecting, updating, and communicating information regarding the security situation in the duty station.
Lead UN Common Premises Security Surveys/Assessment including using on-line PSA2.0 tool
Develop variety of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to UN Common Premises, such as on Access Control, coordinated response to emergencies (hoax phone calls, suspicious items, mail and pouch protocols, EQ, building fire etc.) including involving external host government elements, Suspected Hostile Surveillance Detection procedures, CCTV operations, Guard Unit communication protocols etc.
Support the Office in implementing the Security Plan, Contingency Plans, Business Continuity
Management, and the UN Security Framework.
Maintain regular contacts with Security Focal Points of UN agencies in the duty station.
Assist in developing the Area Security Plan, including updating staff lists for the duty station.
Support actions during the implementation of the Security Plan, as required.
Assist with monitoring the implementation of security measures as recommended in the Area Security Risks Management (SRM) process for the duty station.
3. Institutional Arrangement
Under the overall guidance of the Area Security Adviser, Field Security Coordination Officer (FSCO) UNDSS and direct supervision of the Premises Security Supervisor, the Security Guard Unit Supervisor will be responsible for the above mentioned tasks.
5- Minimum Qualifications of the Successful NPSA
Min. Education requirementsSecondary education is required, or
A university degree (bachelor sdegree) in Political Science, Military Studies, Security Management, Management or a relevant field will be given due consideration, but is not a requirement.
Min. years of relevant work experience
Minimum of 7 years (with secondary education) or 4 years (with bachelor s degree) of progressively professional experience in providing security services, including experience working in a police, military or other governmental, private or international organization security service. or relevant field is required.
Required skills
Demonstrates excellent knowledge of security issues , particularly managing premises security.
Experience in the use of computers, office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc), database packages, Power BI and other computer based, web and smartphone applications.
Desired criteria in addition to the competencies covered in the Competencies section
Applicable security, police and/or military training is desirable Demonstrates excellent knowledge of premises security protocol .
Experience in the use of radio communications systems and knowledge of Country security codes is desirable.
Prior relevant working experience within the UN system, embassy, an international organization or an international NGO is desirable.
Valid driving license is an advantage.
Demosntarted ability to perform physical tasks
Required Language(s)
Fluency in English and Kurdish languages is required
Knowledge of Arabic is desired.
Professional Certificates
Relevant training and professional accreditation in areas such as field security and information security is considered an asset.
6. The following documents shall be required from the applicants:

References may also include peers.

c) Managers may ask (ad hoc) for any other materials relevant to pre-assessing the relevance of their experience, such as reports, presentations, publications, campaigns, or other materials.
