Senior Accountant – Foodstuff Trading Company

Location: Dubai

Employment Type: Full-time

Job Overview

We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our Foodstuff Trading Company in the UAE. The ideal candidate will handle end-to-end accounting operations, ensure compliance with UAE regulations, and support management with accurate financial reporting. Experience in trading or FMCG industries is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Manage daily accounting operations (AP, AR, General Ledger)

Prepare monthly and annual financial statements

Handle inventory accounting, stock reconciliation, and COGS

Prepare and file UAE VAT returns and ensure VAT compliance

Perform bank and account reconciliations

Support internal and external audits

Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management

Ensure compliance with UAE accounting standards and company policies

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

4–6 years of relevant accounting experience

UAE experience is mandatory

Strong knowledge of UAE VAT laws

Experience with accounting/ERP systems (Tally, QuickBooks, SAP, or similar)

Strong MS Excel and reporting skills

High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in Foodstuff Trading / FMCG sector

Knowledge of inventory-heavy operations

Professional certification (CA / ACCA / CPA / CMA) is a plus

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Holds a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field; a Master's degree or professional accounting certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) is preferred.
  • Possesses a minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in the foodstuff trading industry in Dubai.
  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of UAE VAT regulations, IFRS, and accounting principles specific to the foodstuff sector.
  • Exhibits proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Shows experience in managing and reconciling complex transactions, including import/export duties and foreign currency transactions.
  • Possesses strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to mentor and develop junior staff.
  • Has excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, both written and verbal in English; Arabic is a plus.
  • Demonstrates a keen attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Exhibits a proactive and results-oriented approach, with a proven ability to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Is a highly organized and self-motivated individual, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
