Senior APM Engineer (Instana)

Role & Responsibilities:

• Lead the design, deployment, and configuration of Instana APM across enterprise applications, infrastructure, and services.
• Develop and maintain custom dashboards, health rules, and alerts for critical applications and business transactions within Instana.
• Analyze performance metrics, traces, and spans to identify application bottlenecks, code-level issues, and infrastructure dependencies.
• Collaborate with application developers, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to troubleshoot performance issues and provide actionable recommendations based on Instana's insights.
• Maintain and optimize Instana agents and configurations for scalability and efficiency.
• Provide training and mentorship to junior engineers on APM best practices and Instana usage.
• Integrate Instana with other monitoring and alerting platforms (e.g., Splunk, ServiceNow, PagerDuty).
• Participate in performance testing and capacity planning initiatives using Instana insights.
• Document configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guidelines for internal knowledge base.

Skills:

• Instana Certified Professional
• Experience integrating Instana with ITSM and alerting tools (e.g., ServiceNow, PagerDuty, Splunk).
• Knowledge of other APM tools (AppDynamics, New Relic, Data Dog) is a plus.
• Understanding of log analysis and SIEM tools.
• Experience with Kubernetes monitoring and observability best practices, particularly within the Instana platform.
