Senior Backend Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join Halan team. Our mission is to build the next-gen payments and financial services platform, completely reimagining how we think of payments for today s digital age. We have grown rapidly since inception in 2018 to become Africa s fastest-growing startup and launched new verticals in digital payments and access to finance.

Key Responsibilties:

• Be a key player in building a strong team with high-quality output and create a culture of innovation
• Drive designs of major software components, systems, and features in your team and cross teams
• Design, develop and deploy backend services with a focus on high availability, low latency, and scalability
• Work in an environment that supports your individual growth
• Contribute to defining the best practices, including code reviews and unit testing
• Provide constructive, actionable feedback when reviewing code and design

Key Requirements:

• Strong knowledge in writing Go; also, knowledgein Scala, Java or any statically typed programming language is a plus
• Eagerness to learn multiple programming languages and skills
• Good OOP & Design patterns foundations
• Have a track record of building solutions based on micro-service architecture as well as big data processing
• Have a good understanding of system design, data structures, and algorithms and understand how to apply them to design pragmatic solutions
• Capable of seeing the big picture while considering the tiniest of details
