The role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Civil/Structural Engineer to join our Iraq Operations Business. This role is full time residential based in Sharjah, UAE.

Key Objectives

• Contributing to technical delivery of engineering excellence through:
• Executing assigned scopes of work
• Providing discipline expertise to the business
• Supporting and supervising task delegation to team
• Uses technical knowledge to perform engineering assignments and produce engineering deliverables including complex problems. Completes almost any engineering tasks with minimal guidance and direction. May serve as the primary discipline engineer or discipline technical authority on projects with small to medium complexity.
• Performs engineering assignments, usually representing a significant portion of a larger project. Selects engineering techniques to solve problems and makes design recommendations
• Requires mature professional knowledge in planning and conducting assignments having scope for coordination of difficult tasks.
• Applies specific area(s) of expertise in own discipline area
• In consultancy businesses, may review and manages complex projects within area of expertise or of a multi-disciplinary nature
  
  

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities

Executing Assigned Scopes of Work:

• Participates as a team member in a specific phase of a broad engineering assignment
• Directs preparation of appropriate documentation for assigned projects
• Ensures successful completion of the assigned project/phase within the budgeted time and cost constraints
• Participates in defining engineering approaches, and in planning and scheduling work
• Evaluates problems, organizes investigations and establishes general performance specifications for components, equipment, systems, processes, etc.
• Check Engineering calculations as well as check all drawings in accordance with industry codes and standards; Assist with the development of less senior Technical Professionals
• Adhere to and comply with relevant discipline specific procedures and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
• Participate in audits and incident investigations as required
• Performs complex engineering tasks related to specific units of major projects
• Participate in site visits, project review meetings, design reviews and other workshops as required.
• Organising and active participation in design reviews

• Engage with inter-discipline community and promote discipline including: networking / knowledge sharing.
• Often required to persuade individuals with differing positions or interest to change criteria or methods, accept findings or reach agreement on technical points
• Solicits understanding and support of managers for major projects and uses available technical resources

• Establishing and / or maintaining an awareness of external stakeholders including: industry bodies, academia, vendors
• Builds relationships with customers as appropriate
• Seeks out new avenues for building external relationships; maintains on-going contacts with existing relationships; coaches others on relationship management issues
  
  

Level Of Influence & Decision-Making Authority

• Work is assigned in terms of goals and priorities; duties are carried out within broad guidelines and unusual or complex matters are generally referred to more senior authority
• Actions and decisions typically have a significant influence on the technical, operational and financial results of one or more projects or departments.
• Translates standards and guidelines into practical actions
• No direct reports but frequently serves as a technical resource
• May be required to supervise teams and provide technical guidance to drafters/designers and technical professionals with some coaching from own supervisor
• Accountable for own targets

Expected

• B.Sc. or equivalent degree in the Engineering discipline from an accredited university.
• Minimum of 10+ years relevant experience in major Brownfield oil & gas projects, including at least five (5) years in similar position.
  
  

Knowledge, Skills And Experience

• Specific experience in Oil and Gas projects across their lifecycle in the GCC region, preferred
• Pre-FEED, FEED experience is required
• Detailed Engineering experience is preferred
