Role & responsibilities

The Senior Data Modeler is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining logical and physical data models that support the organizations data warehouse and lakehouse environments. This role ensures that data structures are optimized for performance, scalability, and usability, enabling reliable analytics and reporting. This is hand-on role who can deliver the high quality work as individual contributor for this pivotal and critical role for the success of this project.

Key Responsibilities

- Data Modeling & Design

- Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models for the warehouse and lakehouse.

- Define and maintain dimensional models (star schema, snowflake schema) and normalized structures.

- Ensure models support both batch and real-time data processing needs.

- Collaboration

- Work closely with the Senior ETL Architect to align data models with ETL pipelines.

- Partner with business analysts to translate requirements into data structures.

- Collaborate with QA-focused Data Engineers to validate data integrity and consistency.

- Governance & Standards

- Establish and enforce data modeling standards, naming conventions, and documentation practices.

- Ensure compliance with data governance, security, and privacy policies.

- Maintain metadata repositories and data dictionaries.

- Optimization & Maintenance

- Optimize models for query performance and scalability.

- Monitor and refine data structures as business needs evolve.

- Support schema evolution and version control in the lakehouse environment.

Preferred candidate profile

- Strong expertise in data modeling techniques (dimensional, relational, hierarchical, schema-on-read, Medallion architecture).

- Hands-on experience with data warehouse and lakehouse platforms.

- Data Governance tools like Datahub, collibra etc.

- Proficiency in SQL and familiarity with big data frameworks (Apache Spark, Hadoop).

- Experience with data modeling tools (Erwin, PowerDesigner, or similar).

- Solid understanding of ETL processes and how they interact with data models.

- 7+ years of experience in data modeling, with at least 3 years in a senior or architect-level role.

- Bachelors or Master s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
