The Senior Electrical Engineer applies in-depth knowledge, experience, and best practices in electrical engineering. They are responsible for solving complex electrical problems and work independently with minimal guidance.

Job Overview:

The Senior Electrical Engineer uses best practices and knowledge of internal or external issues to improve the electrical discipline within McDermott. They will act as a resource for colleagues with less experience and share their conceptual and practical expertise related to the electrical discipline. The Senior Electrical Engineer solves complex problems and uses their discipline-specific knowledge to improve their products or services. The Senior Electrical Engineer impacts a range of customers, operational, project, or service activities with the electrical team and other related teams and ensures that they are working within the appropriate guidelines and policies.

Job Responsibility:

· Perform conceptual, FEED, Studies, and detailed analyses and design as per design basis, project specifications, design codes, and standards.

· Apply knowledge and skills to a wide range of standard and nonstandard situations.

· Prepare clear and accurate detailed design calculations and analyses including design reports and procedures.

· Manage own time to meet agreed deadlines and budgets and develop plans for short-term work activities in own area.

· Clearly communicate and explain complex issues and work to establish understanding.

· Apply thorough working knowledge to prepare and oversee the development of key project deliverables, including (but not limited to) the following:

o Specifications and Datasheets.

o Electrical Load List.

o One-line diagrams.

o Motor control schematics.

o Electrical building and equipment layouts.

o Bills of Material.

o Cable sizing calculations.

o Conceptual studies and calculations.

o Relay Coordination.

o Cost and planning studies.

· Lead Project Development and Coordination, including (but not limited to) the following:

o Maintain and promote a focus on McDermott’s end product throughout engineering, fabrication, or construction.

o Function as electrical engineering project lead or electrical task lead.

o Become familiar with the project scope of work, basis of design, specifications, and schedule.

o Report to and coordinate with the Electrical Engineering Lead, Project Engineering Manager, and Electrical Department Manager.

o Supervise and coordinate with Electrical Engineers and Designers.

o Maintain close coordination with other discipline engineers and with the Client’s Engineer.

o Carefully evaluate, communicate, and manage change with full awareness of project impact.

o Assume responsibility for cost, schedule, quantity, and budget control.

· Lead the development and support of vendor packages, including (but not limited to) the following:

o Create, issue, and manage requisition packages for Substations, Transformers, and Electrical materials.

o Create, issue, and manage subcontract packages for Heat Tracing, Cathodic Protection, and Electrical Installation.

o Perform and coordinate the review of supplier documents for electrical and non-electrical packages.

o Coordinate and supervise the Inspection and Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) of electrical equipment, motors, and associated skids.

· Lead Site Support, including (but not limited to) the following:

o Lead off-site and/or on-site technical support to Construction personnel.

o Manage all site issues and coordinate with office personnel to resolve issues as needed.

o Provide detailed technical support and supervision for Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) of electrical equipment.

o Provide detailed technical assistance for pre-commissioning, energization, commissioning, and start-up, as required by the project.
