Roles & Responsibilities

Senior Electrical Inspector-Subsea Power Cables

Offshore Laying , Testing and Commissioning

 

  • Assignment Location: Egypt, Offshore Construction & Cable Laying Vessel

  • Assignment Duration: 8 Weeks Offshore.

  • Mandatory Education, Qualification, and Certification:

    • Degree or Higher Technical Diploma in Electrical or Marine Engineering, or certified Offshore Electrical Quality Inspector credentials.

    • Proven experience auditing subsea cable deployment, marine hang-off installations, and platform integration procedures under IEC regulatory frameworks.

    • Demonstrated working knowledge of international standards IEC 60502-2 (power cables with extruded insulation from 6 kV up to 30 kV) and IEC 60228 (conductors of insulated cables).

    • Valid and active offshore marine safety and survival certifications, including BOSIET (Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training) or HUET (Helicopter Underwater Escape Training).

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Responsibilities:

    • Provide continuous surveillance over vessel-side cable handling, tensioning machinery, and marine deployment chutes to guarantee that the continuous subsea cable strings and their integrated field joints never exceed Minimum Bending Radius (MBR) tolerances during laying.

    • Inspect the structural installation and mechanical anchoring of the Hang-Off Land (HOL) and Hang-Off Platform (HOP) assemblies, ensuring the galvanized steel wire armor is correctly clamped to bear the full subsea load weight.

    • Audit the structural mounting frames on the platform decks and verify that the platform deck load capacity complies with the minimum requirement prior to securing the Power Junction Box (PJB).

    • Witness the routing, internal core positioning, and final heat-shrink tube sealing of the power cable connections inside the deck-mounted Offshore Power Junction Box.

    • Witness and technically validate all offshore post-lay commissioning tests executed, confirming that the subsea circuit passes the continuity, insulation resistance (IR) mapping, and High-Voltage (Hi-Pot) overvoltage validation criteria.

    • Verify calibration compliance records for all offshore testing instruments and compile the complete inspection data packages required to issue the final Inspection Release Note (IRN) for operations handover.
