Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Lead civil engineering activities for substation facilities during the construction phase.

  • Review and approve civil & structural drawings related to: Transformer and equipment foundations (GIS/AIS), Cable trenches and duct banks, Control room and switchgear buildings, Oil containment pits, bund walls, and drainage systems, Grading and paving within substation areas

  • Provide technical guidance to Civil Designers and site teams.

  • Review contractor shop drawings, method statements, and as-built drawings.

  • Resolve site technical queries (RFIs) and provide engineering clarifications.

  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, client standards, and international codes (ACI, BS, Eurocodes, etc.).

  • Perform design checks, calculations, and validation of foundations and structural elements.

  • Coordinate with Electrical, Structural, QA/QC, and Construction teams to ensure smooth project execution.

  • Monitor construction progress and ensure civil works are executed as per approved drawings.

  • Support material take-offs (MTO), cost estimates, and quantity verification.

  • Participate in site inspections and technical meetings with clients and contractors.

  • Ensure proper documentation control and timely submission of engineering deliverables.

Desired Candidate Profile

  • Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering (Masters degree is an advantage).

  • Minimum 8–12 years of experience in oil & gas projects, with mandatory substation experience.

  • Proven experience in EPC projects supporting construction phase activities.

  • Strong knowledge of: Reinforced concrete design and detailing, Heavy equipment and transformer foundation design, Structural steel design, Underground utilities and drainage systems, Substation infrastructure works

  • Familiarity with international codes and standards (ACI, BS, Eurocodes).

  • Proficiency in engineering software and tools (STAAD, ETABS, SAFE – advantage).

  • Good knowledge of AutoCAD and review of 3D model outputs (SP3D / Civil 3D preferred).

  • Strong technical problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.

  • Previous experience on ADNOC or Middle East oil & gas substation projects (Preferred)

  • Experience managing site technical teams during construction (Preferred)
