Job Functions / Responsibilities:
Define item definitions for Autonomous vehicle functions.
Perform Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment (HARA)
Perform safety analyses: DFMEA, FMEDA, FTA, DFA per IEC 61508 / ISO 26262 guidelines
Define the functional safety concept for the relevant system, hardware, and software according to IEC 61508 / ISO 26262 standards
Develop functional and technical safety requirements for heavy truck systems
Define security controls for system-level design requirements
Coordinate with distributed teams to manage security scope during software development activities
Assess technology proposals from external suppliers for their potential to meet risk management design objectives
Support internal and external functional safety efforts required by IEC 61508 and ISO 26262 standards
Maintain safety-related artifacts/documents and perform reviews with cross-functional teams
Support functional safety audits and assessments

Qualifications & Skills:
BS in Engineering or related field required.
Experience in system engineering for control systems/code/architecture on autonomous trucks or passenger vehicles.
Minimum 3 years of experience working with IEC 61508 or ISO 26262 and other international standards.
Understanding of designing, developing, and validating Functional Safety related technologies.
Ability to communicate complex concepts or data in a simple yet accurate manner.
Independent judgment and effective decision-making skills. .
Experience with Application Lifecycle Management and System Modeling tools such as IBM DNG, IBM Rational Rhapsody, and IBM Rational Team Concert.

Additional Valued Attributes:
Familiarity with AGILE software development processes
Awareness of regulations, especially affecting instrumentation, emissions, safety, Board Diagnostics, and other areas that impact electrical and electronic design, architecture, and functionality
Experience with structured product development processes
