Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
DSGE Model Development and Maintenance
- Design, develop, and maintain a DSGE model tailored to the Saudi economy, reflecting oil and non-oil dynamics and key structural features.
- Specify and implement core DSGE model blocks, including:
- Households and consumption decisions
- Firms, production, and price-setting behavior
- Labor markets and wage dynamics
- Fiscal policy rules and government behavior
- Monetary and financial transmission mechanisms
- External sector and terms-of-trade shocks
- Ensure internal model consistency and economic coherence across all blocks.
Estimation, Calibration, and Validation
- Calibrate and/or estimate DSGE model parameters using Saudi data and relevant international benchmarks.
- Conduct model validation, impulse response analysis, and robustness checks.
- Maintain clear documentation of model structure, assumptions, parameters, and solution methods.
Shock and Policy Analysis
- Use the DSGE model to analyze macroeconomic, fiscal, financial, and external shocks, including oil price volatility and global demand conditions.
- Assess policy transmission channels and dynamic responses to alternative policy rules and scenarios.
Capacity Building and Institutionalization
- Support internal capacity by documenting the DSGE model, workflows, and solution routines.
- Train and guide analysts in updating the model, running simulations, and interpreting results to ensure continuity and institutional memory.
Desired Candidate Profile
Education
- PhD or Master s degree in Economics, Macroeconomics, Econometrics, or a closely related field.
Experience
- 8 10 years of experience in macroeconomic modeling and applied policy analysis.
- Demonstrated experience in developing DSGE models within policy-oriented institutions, such as central banks, ministries, or international policy institutions (e.g., IMF, World Bank) .
- Experience with emerging or resource-rich economies; GCC or Middle East experience is an advantage.
Technical Skills
- Strong expertise in:
- DSGE modeling and solution techniques
- Macroeconomic theory and dynamic optimization
- Estimation and calibration methods (Bayesian or classical)
- Proficiency in tools such as Dynare, MATLAB, Python, Julia, or similar platforms.
Core Competencies
- Strong analytical skills and macroeconomic intuition.
- Ability to explain complex dynamic results clearly to non-technical audiences.
- Familiarity with data visualization and AI-enabled tools to present impulse responses, scenarios, and risk assessments clearly.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (Arabic is an advantage).
