Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

VSAT


  • Manages and supervises the Operation & Maintenance of earth station by ensuring that detailed responsibilities are allocated to the subordinates and the system services is always available.

·        Provide expertise, suggestion, recommendation and solutions to internal departments in developing new solutions, products and business for growth in revenue generation.

·        Ensure that all network health reports or observations generated by GNOC or Performance and Compliance team are acted upon and cleared in the shortest time.

·        Communicate periodic status report to higher management and escalate any potential issues as appropriate.

  • Ensuring the revenue generation through performance monitoring and tracking the KPI's and resolve any issues due to the technology

  • Ensure that all work process of the earth station are carried out in timely manner to have peak operating conditions of the system

  • Liaise with all departments to implement various operation plans

·        Works on problems of extremely complex scope where analysis of situations or data requires in-depth evaluation of intangible factors.

  • Prepare equipment specification for new projects, evaluate tenders and coordinate with contractors for project execution/implementation.

  • Ensure system availability with minimum interruption

IPTV (TV & Multimedia)

·        Responsible for smooth O&M of IPTV/OTT platform.

·        Expertise technical knowledge in IPTV/OTT eco system (Head-end, Middleware, CAS, MDRM, VoD, STB, Android TV framework, Client App, CPE, TR-69, Monitoring, Codec H.265 etc.)

·        Test and escalate configuration problems, compatibility issues and inter-working of equipment to vendors as necessary.

·        Conducting PoC, ATP, testing with principal vendors.

·        Risk and Impact analysis of Change Request, arranging lab staging activity and testing before any CR on IPTV/OTT platform like software upgrade, patch installation and STB firmware upgrade, etc.

·        Creating and Maintaining detailed engineering documentation for IPTV/OTT platform.

·        Ensure timely monitoring and management of KPIs in order to meet defined targets and manage timely reporting of KPIs and the ‘Performance Management’ department.

·        Ensure that adequate resilience policies and guidelines are applied to all networks/platforms.

·        Keep updated on the latest technology trends within the field.

·        Lead in the preparation of scope of work and management of the rollout of all IPTV/OTT projects.

·        Support OTV Product team to cater day to day technical requirements.

·        Support Demand & Program Management, in ensuring that all IPTV/OTT projects and initiatives are managed effectively within time and budget.

·        Support Technology Strategy team in definition and regular update of end-to-end Network and platform architecture.

·        Ensure that all network health reports or observations generated by NOC are acted upon and cleared as per the SLAs.

·        Analyze current processes and propose enhancements for further improvement.

·        Lead the correction of any system or network failures related to Fixed Core Network, and act as contact point for major and complex problems.

·        Support NOC in solving any critical and complex problems within the IPTV/OTT area.

·        Develop plans and procedures to implement activities to improve quality and efficiency.

·        Establish and manage multiple cross-functional relationships, coordination and communication lines with all units in the business unit and across Ooredoo.

VAS (Value Added Service)

·        Operations & Maintenance of Value-Added Service (VAS) Platform

·         Participate in the installation, ATP and O&M activities of the VAS systems.

·        Troubleshoots technical problems, fault identification and rectification of VAS platforms.

·        Interface with various vendors and keep track of faults and problems/issues in the system.

·        Resolve end user complains through Siebel CRM system.

·        Analyse and check performance & service quality of VAS Platforms.

·        Check routine and preventive maintenance of VAS equipment, rectification of faults and assists technician in case of irregularities.

·        Ensures that the maintenance schedules are strictly implemented and are as per guidelines /operational manuals.

·        Studies the history of repeated fault occurrence and various technical aspects of such repeated complaints. Proposes action / solutions in conjunction with engineer to arrive at permanent solution.

·        Keep track of all changes in the network H/W, S/W and parameters according to strict Change management procedure.


Business orientation

  • To assist in the management of key services and networks in a timely and consistent manner, prepare and present new plans for improving work and environment and communicate timely to the management.

  • Contribute to the initiatives aimed to improved business / operational standards and performance.

  • Support in planning, managing and reporting of sections KPI’s in time.

·       Continuously monitor and keep track of existing work instructions, procedures and work to implement changes when required

Costs & Profitability

Revenue generated by IPTV & VSAT services depends on the continuous delivery of efficient and up-to-date IPTV/OTT & VSAT services, which depend on the proper selection, design and implementation of effective technologies. To supervise the proper operating procedures, consistent with quality of service (QoS) and aligned with optimum service delivery. Poor delivery would result in loss of customer satisfaction and subsequent loss of significant revenue to the company

Customers

Ensure timely and consistent delivery of existing and new value added services to customers (internal & externals). Pro-actively resolve customers and subscribers concerns of all services.

Planning & Organizing

Prepare project implementation plans and organize or re-organize teams to handle new provisioning & maintenance requirements.

Problem Solving

  • Liaise with related Ooredoo International partners, counterparts and internal sections and divisions for quick and effective problem resolutions.

  • Provide guidance and leadership to the team and help to solve all problems.

  • Make sure all issued and reported in timely, transparent and accurately.

 

Desired Candidate Profile

Minimum Experience & Essential Knowledge

  • Five years’ experience in the field of Satellite Communication / INTELSAT Standards Earth Stations & Maritime VSAT system.

  • Experience in a Telecommunication company preferred.

  • Knowledge of principles and practices of public administration and management

  • 6 years of relevant experience in VSAT & IPTV/OTT & VAS platform of which minimum 2 Years in each domain.

  • Significant and demonstrable experience in IPTV/OTT/VAS platform in Telco environment.

  • Strong Software development and deployment methodologies skills.

  • Significant and proven expertise in Operation & Maintenance of IPTV/OTT/VAS platform

  • Proven experience in Planning & Roll out of IPTV/OTT/VAS platform

  • Proven expertise in translating business requirements into operating technologies Minimum Entry Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunications or equivalent
