Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

1.1 Job Scope Summary

The Mechanical Technician is responsible for the safe, reliable, and high-quality execution of mechanical maintenance activities at the EfW facility. The role includes installation, inspection, servicing, overhaul, and repair of mechanical equipment to ensure plant availability and compliance with safety, environmental, and operational requirements.

The Senior Mechanical Technician performs complex mechanical maintenance activities with minimal supervision. Provides technical guidance to junior technicians, supports planning and troubleshooting, and ensures high-quality workmanship and safety compliance.

1.2 Job Responsibilities

A. Mechanical Maintenance & Repairs

  • Perform mechanical repairs, overhauls, and fabrication activities on boilers, conveyors, turbines, pumps, valves, piping, cranes, and auxiliary equipment.

  • Dismantle, inspect, reassemble, and align mechanical equipment.

  • Carry out pipefitting, valve packing, machining, and welding activities.

  • Perform integrity and pressure testing as required.

B. Preventive Maintenance & Inspections

  • Execute preventive maintenance tasks in accordance with schedules.

  • Inspect, lubricate, and adjust equipment to ensure reliable operation.

  • Support boiler inspections, repairs, and RBI activities.

C. Safety, HSE & Permit Compliance

  • Comply with all HSE policies, PTW, LOTO, and safe systems of work.

  • Participate in risk assessments and job hazard analysis.

  • Report unsafe conditions, near misses, and incidents promptly.

  • Maintain clean, safe, and orderly work areas.

D. Troubleshooting & Operational Support

  • Troubleshoot mechanical faults and failures.

  • Support operations during breakdowns and urgent repairs.

  • Consult with operations and technical teams on job hazards and execution methods.

E. Maintenance Planning, Documentation & Handover

  • Assist in job planning, material preparation, and pre-job staging.

  • Record work performed, findings, and corrective actions in CMMS.

  • Support shift handovers by communicating equipment status and outstanding work.

F. Teamwork, Coaching & Knowledge Sharing

  • Work collaboratively with maintenance and operations teams.

  • Guide and mentor junior technicians through on-the-job instruction.

  • Share lessons learned and best practices.

Desired Candidate Profile

1.3 Educational / Professional Qualifications / Training Certifications

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

  • HSE-accredited training and certifications

  • Welding, rigging, and lifting certifications (preferred)

  • Boiler inspection and pressure systems certification (preferred)

1.4 Job Experience, Technical & Software Competencies

  • Minimum 8 years as a Mechanical Technician in power/EfW plants

  • Boilers, turbines, conveyors, pumps, valves, piping systems

  • High-pressure steam systems and tube repairs

  • Precision alignment and close-tolerance fitting

  • Hydraulics, gearboxes, and rotating equipment

  • Welding (structural steel), oxy-acetylene cutting

  • Machining and pipe threading

  • Understanding of drawings, blueprints, and manuals

  • LOTO, rigging, forklift operation

1.5 Core Competencies

  • Willingness to work at height and in plant environments

  • Language: English (Intermediate–Advanced)
