Job Description Summary

The Senior Mental Health Counseling Specialist is responsible for delivering complex individual, group, marital, and family counseling services to a diverse client population which includes but is not limited to: conducting interviews and psychological assessments and observing behaviors to diagnose mental health conditions; utilizing complex therapeutic techniques and modalities to enhance mental well.-being; providing counseling services (individual and group) such as evaluating patient s mental health leading to a holistic wellbeing and coach patients towards full and active participation in their respective societies.

Strategic Roles & Responsibilities

• Represent the hospitals counseling services across the organization during special projects such as engaging in research or quality improvement projects and developing Company policies and procedures to ensure effective delivery of counseling services to JHAH staff and patients

Operational Roles & Responsibilities

• Conductindepth interviews to assess complex patient concerns gathering comprehensive psychosocial histories and formulating treatment plans tailored to individual needs

• Provide advanced therapeutic services for both individuals and groups utilizing evidencebased methods Cognitive Behavioral Therapy DBT Interpersonal Therapy Acceptance Therapy Group Therapy Family Therapy to address complex mental health issues and ensure continuous improvement in patient outcomes

• Document all patient interactions in electronic medical records maintaining confidentiality and adhering to regulatory standards Review and update records as necessary ensuring comprehensive and accurate case management

• Consult on and manage complex clinical cases and psychiatric emergencies offering expert judgment and intervention strategies forhighrisk patients Lead efforts during psychiatric crises and manage patient care inhighstress situations

• Lead and manage crisis intervention teams developing and implementing advanced therapeutic strategies for managing mental health emergencies and training others in best practices

• Play a key role in multidisciplinary meetings contributing to program design case conferences and decisionmaking processes to improve patient care and treatment protocols

• Advocate for the development of new programs and services that align with patient needs emerging mental health trends and best practices Ensure that proposed initiatives meet accreditation standards and ethical guidelines

• Participate in and contribute to research and quality improvement projects within the department aiming to enhance clinical outcomes and service delivery

• Assume leadership in case management overseeing the treatment of particularly challenging cases and providing guidance on complex treatment decisions
