Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
a. Organize Implementation and monitoring of the long and short-term mine planning and mine designing process for open pit operations.
b. Overview/ preparation for approval of the detailed schedules and layouts.
c. Overview/ preparation for approval of the open pit production plans.
d. Overview/preparation for approval of the mine engineering budgets.
e. Mining studies management using in-house and third-party skills (consultants).
f. Provide consultancy and expert advice on mining and mineral extraction projects.
g. Establish production targets and monitor their achievement; ensure that monthly progress plans are completed in a timely manner and are available.
h. Work alongside with the Geological Department to optimize grade control and minimize dilution through mine designs and mine plans.
i. Ensure designs and applications are consistent with regulatory and company policies and procedures.
j. Provide assistance and advice to the operating units, ensuring maximum production and operational planning; ensure correct and up-to-date plans and information, and accurately measure key mining performance indicators.
k. Ensure that a monthly digest of relevant KPIs, progress measurements and reports is available.
l. Evaluate new and innovative products, techniques, and procedures.
m. Recognize options and advise on actions to adopt best practices for mine engineering.
n. Advice, implement, assist and control mine improvement projects.
o. Tracking actual progress against planned production.
p. Manage the drilling and blasting activities to improve blasting optimization.
q. Regular coordination with Operations, Geology, and Survey groups to implement the weekly and monthly plan. In addition to the creation of forecasts to achieve monthly and yearly budget targets.
r. Work with Maintenance and Purchasing departments to provide engineering expertise and improve cost optimization.
s. Provide technical expertise to support the assumptions in mining reserve updates.
t. Comply with all technical, legal and safety measures.
u. Liaise with all mining operations and technical teams.
Desired Candidate Profile
Education:
BSc. in Mining Engineering.
Preferred Training:
Certificates for at least one of the mine design software like Deswik, Datamine, Surpac or Micromine.
Experience:
Minimum of seven (7) years of open pit mine production/planning experience.
Experience in managing a mining department.
Having experience as an Expat is an advantage.
Technical Skills:
Knowledge and awareness in HSE.
To use the latest mining software.
Advanced computer skills.
Drilling and blasting experience.
Aware of geotechnical studies in mine design.
Soft Skills:
Problem solving.
Good interpersonal skill
Good management and organizational abilities.
