The Opportunity

Join Ciena as an Optical Sales Engineer to help shape Ciena s growth in Saudi Arabia and the wider Middle East Region. In this role, you ll partner with leading telecom operators to solve complex challenges, backed by Ciena s industry defining optical, routing, and automation solutions.

This is an opportunity to work closely sales and technical teams, driving the network strategies of some of the most advanced telecommunications players in the region. This is an exciting time to be joining Ciena as the company expands its presence across the Middle East to bring our industry leading Optical solutions to the market, including WaveLogic 6e the industry s first coherent digital signal processor to support 1.6T wavelengths.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Be the trusted technical advisor to key customer stakeholders.

  • Lead customer solution discussions, technical deep dives, and proposals.

  • Identify growth opportunities and guide the sales team on market potential.

  • Build expertise across Ciena s WaveLogicTM optics, 6500 Packet-Optical, Blue Planet automation, and routing/switching.

  • Monitor market trends, regulations, and competition to inform strategy.

The must haves:

  • Extensive experience in telecom, with deep knowledge of optical transport, IP/MPLS, and network architectures.

  • Strong business acumen and experience engaging senior telecom leaders in Saudi Arabia or the Middle East

  • Fluent in English and Arabic (technical and non-technical communication)

  • Proven ability to connect technical solutions to business outcomes.

  • Ability to travel as needed (~20%)
