Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

We are looking for experienced Senior PHP Developer to support a critical system upgrade involving the migration of our PHP applications from PHP 7.3.33 to PHP 8.x. The selected candidates will play a key role in ensuring a smooth, secure, and high-quality migration while maintaining system stability and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the migration of existing applications from PHP 7.3.33 to PHP 8.3+
  • Analyze legacy PHP code to identify compatibility issues and deprecated features
  • Refactor and optimize code to comply with PHP 8.3+ standards and best practices
  • Update and maintain dependencies, libraries, and frameworks to PHP 8.3+ compatible versions
  • Collaborate with QA and other developers to test, debug, and validate migrated code
  • Ensure application stability, performance, and security post-migration
  • Document migration changes, issues, and resolutions

Desired Candidate Profile

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in PHP development
  • Strong hands-on experience with PHP 7.x and PHP 8.3+
  • Proven experience migrating or upgrading PHP applications between major versions
  • Strong knowledge of OOP principles and hands-on experience implementing design patterns (such as MVC, Singleton, Factory, Repository, and Dependency Injection) in PHP applications, algorithms and data structures
  • Deep understanding of:
  • PHP 8.3+ breaking changes and deprecated features
  • Error handling, typing, and performance improvements in PHP 8.3+
  • Strong knowledge of SQL relational databases (MSSQL is preferred)
  • Familiarity with REST APIs, JSON, and backend integrations
  • Experience using version control systems (Git)
  • Ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code
