Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
The Senior Planning Engineer is responsible for developing, monitoring, and maintaining project schedules for large-scale construction or infrastructure projects. The role ensures timely delivery of project activities, monitors critical paths, analyzes delays and variances, and provides accurate progress reports to support strategic decision-making. The Senior Planning Engineer also supervises and mentors junior planners and schedulers.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Scheduling & Planning
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar tools.
- Prepare short-term and long-term planning for project activities.
- Update schedules based on project progress and changes in scope.
Progress Monitoring & Variance Analysis
- Track project progress against approved schedules.
- Analyze delays and deviations, identifying root causes.
- Recommend corrective actions to mitigate delays and optimize performance
Reporting & Performance Analysis
- Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports for senior management.
- Provide dashboards and KPI analysis to support decision-making.
- Assist in forecasting project completion dates and critical path updates.
Coordination & Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with project teams including engineering, procurement, and construction.
- Ensure timely delivery of resources and materials in line with project schedules.
- Communicate schedule requirements and updates to all stakeholders.
Risk Management & Contingency Planning
- Collaborate with project teams including engineering, procurement, and construction.

Desired Candidate Profile
5 10 years of experience in project planning and scheduling for large-scale construction or infrastructure projects
Strong knowledge of project control processes, critical path analysis, and resource allocation
Experience in progress monitoring, forecasting, and variance analysis
Understanding of project management, contracts, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams
Bachelor s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field
Professional certification in Project Planning (PMP, PSP, or equivalent) is preferred
Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 and MS Project
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and reporting skills
Effective communication and leadership skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and mentor junior staff
