Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting a Senior Production Engineer to join its Iraq business unit. This is a full-time onsite position with work schedule 5/2 based in Basra, Iraq .

Activities:

  • Develop, implement, and manage short- and long-term production strategies to optimize oil and gas output.
  • Design, execute, and monitor well performance enhancement programs (well interventions, stimulation, artificial lift).
  • Analyze production data and surface network constraints using Integrated Production Modeling tools (IPM Prosper, GAP).
  • Collaborate with reservoir, operations, and facility teams to troubleshoot production issues and define remedial actions.
  • Evaluate and optimize artificial lift systems, surface network design and field production capacities.
  • Develop production forecasts and provide input into annual work plans and budget cycles.
  • Mentor junior production engineers in performance analysis, critical thinking, and production troubleshooting.
  • Generate technical reports, dashboards, and business improvement proposals.
  • Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and engineering standards.
  • Provide relief for group leaders as applicable.
  • Adhere to professional engineering standards and practices.

Desired Candidate Profile

Expected:

  • Minimum of bachelor s degree in Reservoir, Petroleum, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering. Master s or Doctorate s degrees are desirable.
  • Minimum 10 years experience in Reservoir Engineering, Production Engineering, well performance optimization, and field operations.

Skills:

  • Expertise in production optimization, artificial lift, well performance diagnostics.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Effective communicator and team leader.
  • High-level organizational and multitasking capabilities.
  • Fluent in English spoken and written Analytical skills / problem solving. Highly organized and able to multitask.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Team player.
  • Advanced English speaking and writing skills.
