Senior Project Engineer – Transformers

Job Title: Senior Project Engineer – Transformers

Location: Saudi Arabia (Site & Office)

Job Purpose

Lead and manage end-to-end execution of transformer projects, including design coordination, manufacturing follow-up, logistics, installation, testing, and commissioning. Ensure delivery within scope, time, budget, and quality while maintaining strong customer relationships and driving operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional project teams for execution of power transformer and reactor projects

  • Manage full project lifecycle: design, manufacturing, transport, installation, testing, and commissioning

  • Ensure compliance with contractual, technical, safety, and quality requirements

  • Develop project schedules, monitor progress, and ensure timely delivery within budget

  • Drive coordination between engineering, production, supply chain, and site teams

  • Manage materials planning, PR creation, and procurement coordination (cost vs. quality)

  • Oversee site activities including erection, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting

  • Handle customer communication and technical discussions, including design approvals

  • Conduct risk assessment, cost control, and resource optimization

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives across engineering and execution teams

  • Ensure adherence to ISO, HSE, and company quality standards

  • Prepare and review technical reports, documentation, and root cause analysis for failures

  • Support after-sales technical services and customer support strategy

Key Accountabilities

  • Ensure smooth coordination across departments for project execution

  • Monitor engineering drawings, documentation, and manufacturing data

  • Manage MRP, tools, and material requirements effectively

  • Liaise with internal departments and external stakeholders (clients, suppliers)

  • Maintain and update quality documentation and project records

  • Drive productivity, efficiency, and adherence to project timelines


    Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering 10+ years of experience in power transformer projects (service, design, testing, commissioning)

  • Minimum 5 years in a leadership / project management role

  • Strong experience in transformer erection, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting

  • Experience in transformer manufacturing or EPC environment Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of power transformers and reactors

  • Expertise in failure analysis & root cause analysis (RCA)

  • Experience in project planning tools (MS Project)

  • Familiarity with MRP, procurement, and supply chain coordination

  • Knowledge of international standards and quality systems Certifications (Preferred)

  • PMP Certification (Project Management Professional) Core Competencies

    • 10+ years in power transformer projects (design, manufacturing, testing, commissioning)

    • Minimum 5 years in project management or leadership role

    • Experience in EPC, transformer manufacturing, or utility projects preferred

  • Technical Expertise:

    • Strong knowledge of power transformers and reactors

    • Hands-on experience in installation, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting

    • Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and failure investigation

    • Familiarity with international standards and quality systems

  • Project Management Skills:

    • End-to-end project execution (engineering to commissioning)

    • Project planning, scheduling, and cost control (MS Project or equivalent)

    • Experience in material planning, MRP, and procurement coordination

    • Risk management and resource optimization

  • Leadership & Stakeholder Management:

    • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams

    • Strong client-facing and communication skills

    • Ability to coordinate with engineering, production, and site teams

  • Certifications (Preferred):

    • PMP or equivalent project management certification

  • Behavioral Competencies:

    • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills

    • Results-driven with focus on quality, safety, and timelines

    • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects

  • Other Requirements:

    • Willingness to work on-site and travel as required

    • Experience with utility clients (e.g., SEC, Aramco) is an advantage
