Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead the rig electrical team in the installation, maintenance, and repair of all electrical systems and equipment on drilling rigs.
  • Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance of rig electrical systems to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety standards.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex electrical faults, ensuring minimal downtime and efficient resolution of issues.
  • Coordinate with drilling, mechanical, and safety teams to support seamless rig operations and adherence to operational schedules.
  • Maintain accurate records of electrical maintenance, repairs, and inspections in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure all electrical work is performed in compliance with industry standards, company policies, and health and safety regulations.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate junior electricians and technicians, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and safety awareness.
  • Manage inventory and requisition of electrical spare parts and tools to ensure readiness for routine and emergency repairs.
  • Participate in safety meetings, audits, and incident investigations, contributing to a proactive safety culture.
  • Support the implementation of new technologies and upgrades to enhance rig electrical systems and operational efficiency.
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in electrical maintenance and supervision on oil and gas drilling rigs.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing electrical teams in a fast-paced, operational environment.
  • Strong knowledge of rig electrical systems, including high-voltage equipment, generators, motors, and control panels.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex electrical issues under pressure.
  • Familiarity with industry safety standards, regulations, and best practices for electrical work in hazardous environments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Proficiency in maintaining detailed maintenance and inspection records.
  • Ability to work on-site (onshore/offshore) for extended periods as required by operational needs.
  • Commitment to upholding the highest standards of safety, quality, and operational integrity.
