Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
The Application Support Specialist is responsible for ensuring the availability, performance, and stability of critical applications. The role involves troubleshooting incidents, supporting deployments, and collaborating with development and infrastructure teams in a fast-paced environment
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Provide L2 application support, including incident investigation and resolution.
- Monitor application health using Elastic/Kibana and respond to alerts proactively.
- Support containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Assist with automation and configuration management using Ansible.
- Support identity and access management solutions such as ForgeRock.
- Develop and maintain scripts using Python, Shell, and Perl to automate operational tasks.
- Participate in root cause analysis and continuous service improvement initiatives.
Desired Candidate Profile
ABOUT YOUR SKILLS MUST TO HAVE
Bachelor s degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
5-10 years of experience in application or systems support within a production environment, preferably in an L2 support role.
Proven experience in L2 application support within a production or mission-critical environment, handling incidents, service requests, and problem tickets in line with defined SLAs.
Hands-on working knowledge of containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes, including basic troubleshooting of pods, services, deployments, and resource issues.
Experience using Elastic/Kibana for log analysis, monitoring, and fault isolation to support incident resolution and root cause identification.
Working experience with Ansible for executing playbooks, routine operational tasks, and environment configuration under established procedures.
NICE TO HAVE
Exposure to ForgeRock or similar Identity and Access Management (IAM) platforms, supporting authentication, authorization, and access-related issues.
Practical scripting skills in Python, Shell, and/or Perl to automate repetitive operational tasks, perform health checks, and support troubleshooting activities.
Strong understanding of ITIL-based support processes, including incident, problem, and change management.
Good communication and documentation skills, with the ability to clearly update tickets, hand over issues, and collaborate effectively with L1, L3, and infrastructure teams.
Experience working in 24x7 operational environments and supporting business-critical or customer-facing applications is a plus.
Relevant technical certifications are advantageous, such as: Linux system administration certification (e.g., RHCSA or equivalent). Docker and/or Kubernetes fundamentals or associate-level certification. ITIL Foundation certification or strong working knowledge of ITIL processes.
Demonstrated ability to follow operational procedures, troubleshoot under pressure, and escalate effectively to L3 teams when required.
