Roles & Responsibilities

Job Summary The Senior Technician – Testing & Calibration is responsible for performing and supervising calibration, testing, verification, and measurement activities in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 requirements. The role ensures accuracy, reliability, and traceability of results across all approved scopes of the laboratory. The Senior Technician also supports laboratory setup, method validation, documentation, equipment maintenance, and training of junior staff.

Roles & responsibilities

A. Calibration & Testing Activities • Perform calibration and testing of instruments across multiple disciplines (Electrical, Mechanical, Dimensional, Pressure, Temperature, Mass, etc.) depending on lab scope. • Ensure all activities follow ISO/IEC 17025 procedures and approved methods. • Prepare and issue calibration certificates with correct uncertainty calculations. • Ensure proper handling, functioning, and storage of reference standards and equipment. • Maintain measurement traceability to international / national standards. B. Technical & Operational Support • Assist in laboratory setup, workflow planning, and equipment arrangement. • Conduct measurement uncertainty studies and method validations. • Support procurement of equipment, tools, and consumables. • Coordinate with vendors for repairs, servicing, and recalibration of lab instruments. C. Quality & Compliance • Follow all quality system requirements as per ISO/IEC 17025. • Participate in internal audits, proficiency testing (PT/ILC), and corrective actions. • Maintain accurate calibration records, worksheets, logs, and job files. • Identify non-conformities and propose technical corrective actions. D. Safety & Housekeeping • Ensure safe operation of instruments and adherence to lab safety rules. • Keep workstations clean, organized, and properly labelled. E. Customer Support • Communicate technical issues and job requirements with clients when required. • Support onsite/offsite calibration activities at client facilities. • Provide technical clarification on results, methods, and capabilities. F. Supervision & Training • Guide junior technicians and apprentices in daily activities. • Conduct internal training on equipment handling and testing/calibration procedures. • Monitor performance and ensure compliance with standards.

Desired Candidate Profile

Qualifications & Experience • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Electrical / Mechanical / Instrumentation Engineering or related field. • Minimum 8–12 years’ experience in calibration/testing laboratory environment. • Strong knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025:2017 requirements. • Experience with standard calibration instruments and reference standards. • Ability to calculate uncertainty and interpret technical specifications. • Valid Saudi Driving License – preferable but not mandatory.

Skills & Competencies • Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. • Excellent understanding of metrology principles and measurement techniques. • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. • Good communication and reporting skills. • High attention to detail and accuracy. • Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple jobs.
