Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
- Administer, configure, and maintain AIX and Linux servers in physical, virtual, and cloud environments.
- Manage LPARs, VIO servers, Power VM virtualization, Power Hardware and HMCs, including configuration, patching, and performance tuning.
- GPFS and PowerHA cluster administration
- Perform Firmware upgrades, patch management, Implement and maintain NIM servers, alternate disk installation etc.
- Administer, configure, and maintain Linux servers - RHEL, Ubuntu, etc.
- Familiarity with virtualization (VMware/KVM) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Conduct vulnerability assessments, Hardening and remediation in coordination with cybersecurity teams
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot hardware/software issues.
- perform advanced kernel tuning, performance optimization, and capacity planning.
- Automate routine tasks using shell scripting , Ansible or any other automation tool
- Collaborate with application, database, and network teams to support business-critical systems.
- Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and post-incident reviews for critical system outages.
- Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.
- Provide 24x7 on-call support as part of a rotation schedule.
- 10+ yrs to manage, maintain, and optimize our UNIX-based infrastructure.
- Expertise in IBM AIX and secondary experience in Linux distributions, particularly Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
- Strong focus on system performance, security, automation, and high availability to ensure the reliability and efficiency of critical systems.
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure will be a strong advantage

- Problem-Solving: Exceptional analytical skills to diagnose and solve intricate technical challenges.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively report on system status and collaborate with team members and clients.
- Certifications: Certifications such as Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), CompTIA Linux+, or LPIC are highly valued as they demonstrate a proven level of expertise.
- Experience: A minimum of 5-8 years of professional experience in Unix/Linux administration is typically required for a senior position.
