Job Description

Roles & Responsibilities

Job Summary

To independently diagnose and repair refrigeration system issues, lead routine maintenance activities, and support the service team in system commissioning and upgrade.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate thorough understanding of refrigeration cycles, including vapor compression systems.
  • Troubleshoot Freon and ammonia systems: refrigerant flow, pressure issues, blockages.

Diagnostics and Troubleshooting

  • Diagnose electrical problems using multimeters and circuit analyzers.
  • Conduct advanced leak detection using detectors, dye injection, and pressure tests.
  • Isolate faults in compressors, condensers, and expansion valves.

Maintenance and Repairs

  • Oversee preventive maintenance: cleaning coils, inspecting insulation, testing motors.
  • Replace components: solenoid valves, thermostatic valves, fans.
  • Recharge systems with Freon/ammonia and calibrate controllers.

Installation and Commissioning Support

  • Assist in system start-up, verify design adherence.
  • Supervise junior technicians during installations.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain service logs and fault reports.
  • Provide technical feedback to supervisors and raise customer-specific concerns.

Safety and Training Compliance

  • Attend training on refrigerant handling and electrical safety.
  • Follow company safety procedures and use PPE at all times.

Desired Candidate Profile

Job Requirements

Education

  • Diploma in HVAC or Refrigeration Systems.

Experience

  • Minimum: 3 years in refrigeration maintenance and diagnostics.

Certifications

  • Must hold a valid driving license.

Core Competencies

Technical

  • Advanced knowledge of Freon and ammonia systems.
  • Strong skills in electrical and mechanical fault finding.

Behavioral

  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Mentoring skills to guide junior staff.

Other Skills & Requirements

  • Basic Microsoft Office proficiency for reporting.
  • Physically capable of handling equipment.
