Roles & Responsibilities
Position Title: Site Incharge – API 650 Storage Tanks
Location: Project Sites / Saudi Arabia
Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Site Incharge with strong background in API 650 storage tanks, including both shop-fabricated tanks and site-erected tanks. The candidate must have hands-on experience in complete tank erection activities using both conventional crane method and jacking / hydraulic lifting method.
The ideal candidate must have experience in cone roof tanks, floating roof tanks, cathodic protection systems, inspection activities, and complete site management from mobilization to final handover.
Key Responsibilities
Technical & Construction Responsibilities
Supervise complete erection of API 650 storage tanks at site.
Handle both shop fabricated and field erected tanks.
Manage erection through:
Conventional crane lifting method
Jacking / hydraulic lifting method for shell course erection
Execute and supervise cone roof tanks and floating roof tanks.
Ensure proper alignment, fit-up, welding, dimensional checks, plumbness, roundness, and leveling.
Supervise bottom plate, shell courses, roof structures, nozzles, stairways, platforms, floating roof internals, seals, and accessories installation.
Coordinates hydrotest, calibration, commissioning, and final completion.
Inspection / Quality Responsibilities
Coordinate all inspection activities as per project requirements.
Good knowledge of NDE / NDT methods, including:
VT (Visual Testing)
PT (Dye Penetrant Testing)
MT (Magnetic Particle Testing)
UT (Ultrasonic Testing)
RT (Radiographic Testing)
Vacuum Box Test
Hydrotest
Coordinate with QA/QC team for weld mapping, punch clearance, documentation, and handover dossiers.
Ensure quality compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and client standards.
Cathodic Protection Responsibilities
Supervise installation and coordination of Cathodic Protection (CP) systems for tank bottoms and associated structures.
Coordinate with specialist vendors for anode systems, testing, and commissioning.
Site Management Responsibilities
Take full control of complete site activities and workforce productivity.
Arrange and monitor:
Site accommodation / camp facilities
Temporary electricity supply
Water supply
Welding machines and generators
Cranes / forklifts / lifting tools
Materials and consumables availability
Coordinate with client, consultant, inspectors, subcontractors, and internal teams.
Prepare daily progress reports, manpower reports, and site requirements.
Ensure project schedule targets are achieved.
Safety Responsibilities
Ensure full compliance with site safety rules, permits, lifting plans, and work procedures.
Maintain safe execution during erection, welding, hydrotest, and heavy lifting activities.
Required Qualifications
Diploma / Degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant technical discipline.
Minimum 8–12 years’ experience in tank fabrication and site erection.
Minimum 5 years as Site In charge / Supervisor.
Strong experience in API 650 tanks mandatory.
Proven experience in cone roof, floating roof, jacking method erection, cathodic protection, and NDE coordination.
GCC / Saudi experience preferred.
Strong leadership and communication skills.
